Description
Jacks Cabin Pass on the Gunnison National Forest hosts this high-elevation double-track pullout, looking out over sweeping Gunnison County terrain with minimal traffic and genuine quiet — aside from occasional gunfire drifting up from a shooting area below. The access road is rough enough to rattle a standard vehicle through the bigger ruts, and a heavy rainstorm can worsen conditions significantly, so high-clearance is wise and 4WD is required beyond the two van-sized spots. The area falls under an annual USFS winter wildlife closure from December 1 through April 30; plan accordingly.
