Gunnison NF Dispersed off FR 799 (Agate Trailhead Road)

Description

The subalpine timber of Gunnison National Forest just below Monarch Pass holds a cluster of dispersed sites along FR 799 (Agate Trailhead Road), a short spur off US Highway 50 near the Agate Creek drainage. The access track is rutted and warrants high clearance — and the area can remain snowbound well into spring. Some highway noise carries in from US 50, though it quiets considerably after dark, making this a reasonable overnight stop along the corridor.
