Sage flats and open sky define the setting at Radium Campground, a small established site within the Radium State Wildlife Area - Blacktail Unit along the Colorado River outside Kremmling. Colorado Parks and Wildlife manages the area, which runs from May 1 through October 1 and includes electric and water hookups, flush toilets, showers, and ADA-accessible facilities, making it a workable base for both tent campers and RVs.
The campground sits directly on the river, giving campers immediate water access. There is no tree cover to speak of, so shade and visual privacy are minimal, but individual sites have enough room to spread out. The road in is shared with commercial river rafting operations, which means daytime traffic can pick up considerably even when the campground itself is quiet. Marasha L. describes it as offering "priceless access at the river," and mid-June visits have seen only three or four sites occupied overnight.
Hot springs lie roughly 1,000 yards from a nearby trailhead, and cliff jumping is available at the springs for those inclined. River levels in late spring tend to run high, which can affect water temperature at the springs. Nearby campgrounds along the corridor include Pumphouse Campground and Trough Road Dispersed, both within a few miles for those who want dispersed or alternative sites. Reservations are available, and given the small site count, booking ahead is advisable for weekend visits in June and July.
