Smith River Camp

Smith River Camp functions as a day-use area rather than a traditional campground, with heavy car traffic from river users creating a busy atmosphere. The dispersed camping designation within Six Rivers National Forest can mislead visitors expecting a quiet overnight spot. Instead, this roadside location draws crowds who come to play in the Smith River waters throughout the day.

Access proves challenging for larger RVs and trailers due to the layout and parking constraints. Campers seeking actual overnight places to camp near Gasquet will find better options at established campgrounds like Grassy Flat Campground just minutes away.

Not a dispersed camping area

It’s a day use area. With a lot of cars of people playing in the river. Also not fun to pull in into with a camper. Not sure why someone put this on here.
