Wonderful Campground, Avoid 32 &34

Great location, centrally located for exploring both Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks.

Nicely shaded spots and the higher elevation is nice for cooler nights during the hot summer months.

Great views of the sunset from the back of the campground.

Grant Grove Village is very close by…

Pretty Site!

First time to Sequoia/Kings Canyon and was offered this site on recreation.gov. Although this site was VERY far from the parks, it was pretty and remote. The Site Host Vicky was kind and gave us a good tip on swimming behind the Stoney creek store. Only camp here if you love driving, don’t mind a…

Lovely Site With a Great Tent Pad Along the River

Stayed in Site 78 in the upper part of Lodgepole, which was perfect. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, no one was in the site next to us. (That one, site 74, seemed really cramped. Someone had moved the picnic table to the tent pad, but there wasn't really much space to move it anywhere else. If…

  • Sunset from Lodgepole site 78, looking toward site 73 and 72.
  • Site 78. Big tent pad. This is with a 4-person tent. Rocks around fire pit were handy to sit on. River is in background, down a little embankment. Easy walk.
  • Lodgepole site 78. You can see the table on the tent pad of neighboring site 74, which does not appear to be in use during the 2020-2021 pandemic.

Beautiful and Remote

We loved our stay at this campground. It was beautiful, quite and the camp host was incredibly kind. My only complaint is that we were very far from any good hikes. My partner and I ended up driving 3hours to Sequoia NP so we could get a good one in. However, if you want a nice, lazy weekend in the…

Premium California Camping

The name says it all. This campsite was a majestic experience for being surrounded by huge pines and sunsets you have to experience- photos do them no justice. Campers were very respectful and nighttime brought a soothing silence with very little noise and partying. Everyone gathers to see the…

Friendly host, dusty site

Advertised at $35 on The Dyrt, it was $63 with a discount. Closest bath house was mediocre, and no WiFi! Nice registration person offered her personal hotspot. As my 5th rv camping experience, I’m learning what to ask for up front.

Peaceful Getaway

Pine Flat is a beautiful place close to home yet far enough to find a peaceful getaway at the lake. Campgrounds are clean, restrooms and showers are close to campaign if you are tent camping. Trails to hike and explore.

Hard to get reservations

Its qlmost impossible to get a spot here, but we got lucky on a Thursday early in the season. It was amazing! There were deer and marmots that were friendly (but not camp beggers) and trees the perfect distance for hammock sleeping.

Awesome free camping for Sequoia/kings canyon

Free dispersed camping in sequoia national forest. I got there at around 5 on a Sunday and quickly got a spot. There was a fire pit but also a fire band going on. No at&t cell reception which is true for most of the surrounding national forest/park land. People were listening to music but it…

Not private but wonderful central location

Perfectly situated near all the best trailheads. No privacy at this campground. Lots of loud families. Walking distance to the store with firewood and ice. Creek runs through it and lots of big trees nearby.

Lovely spot, but busy grounds and nearby road

We are working out way north through CA and Horse Creek was in a convenient spot. Site very clean and well managed and overall its a pretty spot. Only 2-3 large and dispersed bath rooms. A number of large groups around the site which looks fun but it felt more like an urban park than being in…

Meh.....

I’ll start with the positive. The staff was incredibly nice and the sites were level left to right. The park is a couple swings in a sand pit, there seems to be a lot of permanent residents, the water supply in each site is topped with a sprinkler to water the grass in the sites. We stayed 2…
