Within Mendocino National Forest, Matterson Group Campground operates as a US Forest Service facility accommodating RVs up to 70 feet long. The campground runs from mid-June through September with a $75 nightly rate and requires reservations. Access involves rough roads leading to forested and open terrain near a lake.
Basic amenities include vault toilets and trash service, while fishing provides the primary recreational activity. The no-pets policy distinguishes this site from many forest campgrounds. Campers exploring the broader region can find places to camp around Paskenta for additional options beyond the immediate area.
