Fishing draws many visitors to Plaskett Meadows, where two ponds give anglers a shot at trout, and the upper pond is typically stocked each season. Set within Mendocino National Forest, the campground runs from June through October and has pull-through sites for trailers up to 16 feet alongside back-in sites for tent campers. Campsite 12 backs up to a meadow where deer pass through regularly. Crowds stay light, and the site has never been reported full outside of deer hunting season. Anglers and wildlife watchers looking into pet-friendly camping near Mendocino National Forest will find this a low-key base with clean pit toilets, trash pickup twice weekly, and drinking water on-site when the pipes are functioning.
Description
The campground is in an area of mixed species of pine and fir. There are two small lakes for trout fishing, three to four acres each. No motorized boats allowed. Swimming is not recommended.
