Within Lassen Volcanic National Park, Juniper Lake Campground provides tent-only camping at high elevation with direct lake access. The National Park Service manages this drive-in campground where no RVs are permitted and pets are prohibited. Individual sites operate on a first-come, first-serve basis, though weekend availability can be challenging due to growing popularity.
The campground sits directly beside Juniper Lake, where some sites offer lakefront positioning with views toward Mount Lassen. The high-elevation location creates sparse, dry terrain with minimal site separation. No water is available on-site, and the remote setting lacks cell service and camp host presence. Canoe and rowboat rentals provide lake access, though the water remains cold year-round. Campers can explore tent spots around Lassen Volcanic National Park for additional backcountry options.
Description
The Juniper Lake Campground is located on the east shore of Juniper Lake via a 13-mile paved/gravel road. All single campsites are first-come, first-served only. Reservations are required for the two group sites and one stock corral. Drinking water is not available.ADA Access: There are no ADA sites.
