Description
Southern Death Valley's remote backcountry unfolds along Harry Wade Road, a seldom-traveled dirt corridor through open desert below Jubilee Mountain that sits well clear of the park's crowded paved routes. The road begins as hard-packed gravel and transitions to packed dirt and sand, with a 2WD-accessible stretch making the first several miles reachable without four-wheel drive — though the road turns to loose sand past the eight-mile mark and requires 4x4 beyond that point. Pull-offs along the road are compact, best suited to vans and truck campers, and a pit toilet at the nearby Ashford Mill Ruins is the only facility in the area.
