Accessible only by boat, this US Forest Service campground sits along Shasta Lake's shoreline within Shasta National Forest. The boat-in format requires campers to transport all gear and supplies by watercraft, as no road access exists to the sites. Pets are not permitted at this location.
The campground provides a lakeside camping experience for those with boats or watercraft access. Campers exploring the broader region can find additional campgrounds around Shasta National Forest with vehicle access. The boat-in requirement limits this spot to experienced boaters comfortable navigating Shasta Lake and hauling camping equipment across water.
Description
Gooseneck Cove is one of four boat-access only campgrounds on Shasta lake. Located on the upper Sacramento arm of the lake, this facility is very popular. Whether or not the access is difficult varies depends on the current lake level. There are vault toilets and no piped water. This is a pack it in, pack it out facility.
