Scott Flat Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Drive-in access and full amenities make Scott Flat Campground a functional base for campers heading into Trinity National Forest. The campground sits near a river and provides drinking water, flush toilets, showers, and trash service. RVs up to 20 feet can access the site, and pets are welcome throughout.

Sites run close together here. Reviewers consistently note the density of the campground layout, with most spots positioned near neighbors, though a few semi-private sites closer to the water do exist. Noise in the evenings is part of the reality at this campground, particularly on busy weekends. The water access draws most visitors, and swimming is the main draw, with the river described as accessible and worth the trip. Kelly S. notes the terrain is "very rocky but the water was nice," which is worth keeping in mind for site setup and footwear.

Cleanliness gets positive marks across multiple reviews, with bathrooms reported to be in good shape even when located some distance from waterside sites. The campground has showers, which sets it apart from more primitive sites in the area. Nearby options include Hells Gate Campground and Forest Glen Campground, both within roughly a mile to the northwest. Scott Flat works best for campers who prioritize water access and standard amenities over seclusion.

Good camping

We ended up with a nicer semi private spot closer to the water although the lake was super low last year. Most sites pretty close together. Ours was spacious. Very rocky but the water was nice. A trek to the bathrooms from our area but they were in good shape. Lots of trees Has showers. I'd go again. Boat launch gets super busy.

My old Stomping Grounds

We us to come here often when I lived in Grass Valley. Recently I had the opportunity to go back and camp with my family. The place has changed some. Lots of campsites, and campers, all right next to each other, which made for a lot of camp noise, especially in the evening, but that is part of the fun of camping in a campground. The lake was a perfect temperature for swimming. There is a small store that is by the marina where we all had ice cream and the dock was perfect to lay on for star gazing and watching for shooting stars.
