Great Place on the Water

I travelled about 100 miles on 'Bob's' road, or 'Bill's' road because highway 36 was closed. WOW! The second hundred miles were okay, but the scenery was, on both stretches of road, just fantastic. The lake is beautiful, blue/green and surrounded by green.

The camp itself is great, although I have suspicion that a lot, or most, of the sites are weekenders, or people who come here for a week or two. Lots of sites have 'stuff,' meaning there's boats, RVs, trailers, tents, chairs, hanging lights, but no people.

Very remote location, well-maintained and moderately populated.

The last 2 hours from basically any direction were winding roads through the hills. My family loved the drive, though. It was stunning and vast the whole way through. The campground was at perhaps 40% capacity, which was perfect. It was opening weekend 2021 (mid-April), so I'm not sure if that should have filled the campground or left it emptier than usual... In any case, we just about had the lake to ourselves. There's plenty of room for fishing, camping, boating (low/no wake), paddle boarding, etc. We even brought a BB gun and easily found a remote are to plink some paper targets.

There are some hook-ups, but we parked a rented RV in a normal camping spot and used battery/propane for power and heat. There were nearby water spigots we didn't use, but we could have filled the water tanks and used the water for showers/toilets, cooking. The bathrooms were so close we just skipped using our RV toilet. Coin operated showers and clean restrooms with a trough-style sink mounted outside for cleaning fish. I could write a whole article about this place, it was so beautiful. There was a decent amount of fire damage, but there was still so much beautiful landscape, it didn't diminish our trip at all. There are still so many towering trees all over the place, it's easy to be in the shade all day if you wish.
