Dark Canyon Campground - CLOSED for 2020

Where mountain terrain meets the San Bernardino National Forest, Dark Canyon Campground sits closed to overnight visitors as of 2020. The US Forest Service previously operated this established campground from May through September, providing drinking water and restroom facilities to campers.

The site once distinguished itself as the only mountain campground in the area with a running stream flowing through the grounds. Past visitors could camp directly alongside the water before environmental protections for local amphibian species changed access patterns. Nearby alternatives include Marion Mountain less than a mile south for campers seeking active forest camping options.

Old-school

My review  is for the past.  Best campground  ever.  Only campground  in the mountain to have a running  stream. My best childhood  memories  are at this place.  This green tailed frog has ruined  the future  exploration  of this site. Yes I know  how important  frogs are but let's be real,  they can multiply.   Back in the days you use to be able to camp near the stream but those days are gone.
