Buckhorn Campground is a small, free-to-use BLM site with just a few picnic tables, basic tent and drive-in access, and a single vault toilet. Fire damage from past wildfires has reduced shade considerably, making summer visits uncomfortable during peak heat. The campground stays open year-round and allows pets, campfires, and alcohol. It sits within camping spots near BLM Land — Ukiah Field Office territory and draws OHV users in particular, given its proximity to nearby off-highway vehicle riding areas. Cow Mountain Rec Area Dispersed lies roughly 1.3 miles to the northwest for those wanting a comparable dispersed option. Spring and fall visits make the most sense here.
