Big Pine Dispersed Camping

Cell service was non-existent for me, satellite limited by trees, as was solar, but my spot by the creek was lovely. The sites are not far from the highway and logging is active in the area, so traffic is to be expected, but the sites are far from one another. Easy access for my truck and 19-foot airstream.

We arrived around 4pm on a Tuesday. Pick a nice spot by the creek. It was spacious, clean and pretty easy to get in and out of. Road is not paved but still manageable. Drove a scion xd in there.

The only reasons for 4 instead of 5 stars is: noise from logging along nearby 44 and  weekend OHV noise. But what a gorgeous spot with creek access and camp spots well distant from one another. Satellite and solar struggled due to the trees, but oh so worth it. In nearby Old Station is a dump and watering station, as well as convenience store with gas pumps. I would say this would be an especially good spot for family camping :)

In late and out early so parked at one of the first pullouts long before the creek. Easy dirt road in my sedan. Some logging I think(?) at around 4am or something actually. But slept easily enough. Best to go farther in for a better experience

Perfect spot right outside Lassen Volcanic NP. There’s a little river by my spot and I love the moss on the trees. Quiet and peaceful

Such a beautiful spot next to the river. The trees were gorgeous and perfect for setting up our hammock. Falling asleep to the water was a bonus. Only downfall was the bugs but that’s to be expected. The sites were clean with fire pits too. Definitely would go back

There are so many gorgeous spots to pitch a tent or park your RV. This area is more expansive than is obvious at first glance. I recommend newcomers explore a little bit before picking your spot. Both Hat Creek and Lost Creek run through the area. Most of the campers in this area are in their RVs and larger groups are common, though everyone is generally very thoughtful of their neighbors and plenty of the spots have plenty of privacy. I'm a tent camper and bring everything I need for dispersed camping without any provided amenities. In the last several years I've camped here four or five times. There are vault toilets nearby at Panoramic Point along the highway. There are also a couple of general stores to the northeast not too far away.

Its a a great spot, just a handfull of miles East of the Lassen national park north entrance off the ca 44.

About a mile of easy wide dirt road, we took our 30 ft RV and pull into a brilliant spot right by hat creek. No raod noise, no neighbours, just fresh air and a good nights sleep.

There are about 6 spots about 100 years apart from each other.

Good spot to stay, lots of spots along the creek, only saw about 4 other people while I was here on Monday-Tuesday. Plenty of room for travel trailers (although the road is a little narrow if you come in from Twin Pines road). No service but you can drive to the overlook between Twin Pines road and Big Pine campground entrance to get 1 bar.

Nice spread out private spot. I had a spot right up against the creek. Listening to that all night was chefs kiss. No service, not great for starlink but you won’t need it because of the peace and beauty. Not crowded

Best dispersed camping near Lassen. Area is clean w/ amazing creek side sites, fire pits, and plenty of space between. Nice and quite, other than the beautiful sounds of the babbling creek & birds. Definitely coming back!!

Right next to the creek and big spots! Our motorhome drove down here just fine. Caught a bunch of trout in the creek and had an absolute blast. Quiet and safe and lots of shade.

Lots of flies but a beautiful site

Our parking spot is big enough for our travel trailer, right next to the creek. Clean, quiet, safe. No traffic. But No cell service.

Plenty of dispersed camping along the creek just south of Big Pine Campground. We found a could spots that our 38ft fifth wheel could fit, and many spots for smaller rigs. Water, dump, and trash are available at Old Station Visitor Information Center just north (RV sewer dump closes mid October)
