Greers Ferry Lake

Overview

Old Highway 25 Park is located on Greers Ferry Lake in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of north-central Arkansas. The environment provides the ideal location for family camping, fishing, boating and hiking.

Recreation

Greers Ferry Lake is an outdoor enthusiasts' dream, with boating, sailing, water skiing, swimming, scuba diving and fishing opportunities. Hikers enjoy the area's three National Nature Trails and one multi-purpose fitness trail. The William Carl Garner Visitor Center is just west of the dam, with exhibits, a children's touch table, and a replica of the world record 40 lb. 4 oz. brown trout caught in the Little Red River downstream of the center.

Facilities

This campground offers 116 sites, 80 of which have electric hookups. One large non-electric group campsite is available as well. Additional amenities include flush and vault toilets, showers, a dump station, picnic shelter, swimming beach and a boat ramp.

Natural Features

A dense mix of red cedar, black gum, red oak, elm, pecan and sweet gum trees forest the area, providing shade in the summer months and beautiful fall colors in autumn. Wildlife is plentiful around Greers Ferry Lake. Visitors commonly see white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, squirrels and a wide variety of birds.

Nearby Attractions

The Greers Ferry National Fish Hatchery, in Heber Springs, located below the dam, offers free tours. Built in 1965, the hatchery produces about one million rainbow trout a year for restocking the Little Red and other Arkansas streams.

Gotta Love Her

Open Mar - Oct with 116 sites and 80 are electric

Fees:  $16.00 - $20.00

Reservations:  877-444-6777 or recreation.gov

Boat ramp, drinking water, dump station, playground, flush toilets, showers, picnic table, fish cleaning table, water sites, swimming beach, day use area

Campground is older as most COE camps are but the ones in Arkansas have a great deal of charm and beauty.  Sites are mainly shaded with typical forest trees in this area.  Wildlife spotting from your campsite is normal.  Sites are generally smaller than you will find in a private campground.  Check the site sizes to make sure your unit will fit.  The sunsets re amazing if you have a water site.  Not to mention you could have your own "mini" cliff to jump off on to go swimming.  There are even some site where people dock their boats.

Very nicely maintained but very busy at times.

Enjoyed it immensely. Right next to the water. Great views, great breeze. Our campsite was handicap accessible.

Small

We didn’t camp but the campground choices are few and the beach is small. However, it was a great shady place to enjoy with bathrooms.

Okay.

Beach/ swimming area has a lot of geese. Friend got a ticket for having a beer in the swimming area, stay at your spot if you are drinking.

Quiet and clean. Needs water hookup

Great place and so pretty. No water or sewer hook up. I can deal without sewer but need that water. Place was clean and nicely spread out. The beach was awesome and quiet.

Site in the woods

Reserved late and got a spot in the back. Thought it wasn’t going to be great but it turned out awesome. The campsite is busy but there is plenty of space to yourself. I would recommend it over other sites on the lake.

Great Lake Access!

We normally camp on E or G and love them both! This past time we were on A which is closest to the swimming area. Easy access to swim or put the kayaks in! Hook-ups are electric only. Lots of trees and good sized sites so everybody can be spaced out!

On Greers Ferry Lake

Nice sites on the lake. We camp here a lot since it is close to our house. Staff is friendly and doesn't get in your business. Drive through to find the choice sites. This last time we were able to camp right on the water and park our boat at the site. Busy on the weekends so make sure and reserve. Weekdays are pretty peaceful. The lake is busy but large enough that even at busy times there is room for fun. Fishing, boating, hiking, and swimming are all close by.

Beautiful lake views...

We love this campground. The sites are shady and there are rock bluffs that the grandkids love to jump from.
