Description
The high ponderosa plateau of Coconino National Forest north of the San Francisco Peaks rises above 8,000 feet with open views toward the cinder cones of Sunset Crater and the Colton volcanic field, with Mount Humphreys visible on the horizon. A single fire ring and space for one or two smaller vehicles make it a quiet overnight stop suited to trucks or SUVs rather than larger rigs. Forest Road 418 / White Horse Road provides access, and tree cover on one side offers some shelter from the prevailing wind.
