BLM 8044 Dispersed — Vekol Valley

Description

Vekol Valley is a broad, open stretch of low Sonoran Desert in BLM's Lower Sonoran management area southwest of Phoenix, ringed by distant mountain ranges and filled with creosote, scattered saguaros, and terrain that's easy on dogs and boots alike. BLM 8044 runs through the heart of it, and pullouts extend along both sides of the road — from large flat sites near the highway suitable for full-size rigs to more secluded spots further south requiring higher clearance. The valley floor is exposed and best enjoyed in the cooler months; cell service is solid throughout, established fire rings are scattered across the area, and BLM rangers patrol regularly.
