BLM 8007 Dispersed — Sonoran Desert National Monument

Description

Sonoran Desert National Monument stretches across a broad, saguaro-studded bajada south of Interstate 8 in central Arizona — open BLM land where the desert quiet is broken mostly by cactus wrens and the occasional BLM patrol. Vekol Valley Road (BLM 8007) runs south from Exit 144 into the monument, passing the boundary sign where dispersed camping begins, with flat pull-offs scattered along the road for as far as you care to drive. The gravel track is passable for most vehicles and rigs; summer heat makes this a distinctly fall-through-spring destination.
