Really nice but totally booked up.
It was a really nice place great people

Our site #48 Buckhorn was really spacious and private. Great views all around. Table and fire pit. The park has tons of trails for hiking and MTN biking. The only downside is the light pollution at night being so close to Phoenix.

We absolutely love this campground. Close to everything, including some awesome Mountain Biking from green to double black diamond trails. Large spaces with water, power and super clean. Highly Recommend!!!!

Stayed one night on thru-trip. Wow, seems like best of the Sonoran Desert. Beautiful. Well kept park, safe, quiet, with clean single shower/bathroom stalls that are spacious, but some do not have hooks to hang stuff. Cell service. Was 90 the day we left (~March 23rd), night temp was cool and windows left open.
Food: Chorizo & bacon mac & cheese with garlic and tortillas!

Stayed here during a 200 mile bikepacking trip around this area in late December. There are mountain bike trails connected to this campground that were very fun! Definitely a great basecamp for mtb and hiking.
We were the only tent campers but it was nice to use the electric outlets to charge our devices. Overall a quiet campground but there is a shooting range nearby, so just a heads up!

Stayed here in a campervan for one night on a weekday and really enjoyed it. The facilities were clean and well kept, your neighbors are obviously pretty close by but people kept to themselves. Loved waking up to the giant saguaros!

Maricopa County has a great park system. This is our third time here. There are tons of trails and the views are awesome.
This was a highlight on the last stay. The people are mostly quiet, and to themselves. If your young a few night stay is okay. But any longer and you will start to see the looks from fellow older campers.
Good price, friendly staff. Clean restrooms, and fire pits. The hosts are incredible Ty yu
The scenery is desert with a mountain backdrop. Individual spaces are very spacious. Campground is about 15 minutes from Apache Junction but still secluded. Great weekend getaway. Very quiet except... there is a shooting range about a mile away so there are times you hear a distant report of a rifle. Campground has a public bath and shower. Also a hiking trail.

This county park has good campsites with water and electric in the midst of the desert land. The plant life was abundant and there were many birds and wildlife around.
Usury Mountain is a challenging hike but well worth it. The bathrooms are clean with warm showers.
Phoenix is just a short drive for anything you need or want to do. It is quiet even though the city is nearby.

Crowded but quiet, dog friendly. Spots were large enough, however some were placed parallel to the road, which concerned us about our slide. Ended up being fine, beautiful sunset views, close enough to the city and fun to explore up the mountains.

Camping was spot on! Very clean and quiet and good camp spots.
Sites are spaced out and the restrooms/showers were super clean! Met some friendly folks and had a great time there. I did wind cave trail and pass mountain trail and i recommend both!

Spent two nights here in my little pop up. People super friendly and the restrooms super clean.
This campground is very well maintained and has something for everyone! RVs, tents, groups, and back-ins. They are well spaced out and numbered gravel sites with a firepit and stone picnic benches. Reservations are recommended- we booked 2 days before and got the last site. Booking a site omits the $7 vehicle entry fee. The bathrooms were very clean and there’s electrical hookup and water on site. There are many trails close by and desert views in all directions, including the Usery and Superstition Mountains. Little to no shade. The one and only complaint we had was the nearby archery/shooting range operated as early as 7am, and thereafter the sounds of gunshots was constant until dark.

This is a great campground close to Mesa. Incredibly clean sites, great layouts, flat, quiet, quality hookups.

Stayed here for a couple nights was extremely quiet the facilities are some of the cleanest and nicest looking I think I've ever seen. So much diversity in wildlife and the desert is just perfect this time of the year. Extremely clean camping spots well maintained I have nothing negative to say about this area.
Beautiful views, water, electic, dump station near sites, very clean campground. Close to Phoenix, Apache Junction and surrounding areas. Hiking available, we didn't use the restrooms so can't update on them. Would highly recommend staying here. 👍👍

Great campground with heated bathrooms close to phoenix. Hiking nearby is fun like windy cave trail.

The campground has developed sites in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. The views are fantastic, especially during early spring. The sites are well maintained and have several bathrooms with private showers. Usery Mountain is also just a few minutes away from east Mesa, which has a good selection of restaurants.

Checked in on a Sunday for a one night stay at Buckhorn CG. Campsite 6 is the first one on the right, across from the Camp Host site, and as close to the entrance has you’re gonna get. I expected to hear traffic in and out, but the site sits a nice distance back from the CG entrance road. Parking area was large enough to accommodate a couple of vehicles, and the site was roomy, with a few tent location possibilities. Site was raked and free of any trash, and a good distance from neighboring site. Loved the large concrete picnic table. Nice metal firepit and water on site. Really quiet— just the nearby chatter of birds and coyotes serenading. You won’t get a ‘dark sky’ night here, but the light noise from Phoenix makes for beautifully silhouetted saguaro cacti. Restroom and shower facilities were clean.

Outstanding layout, great hosts, spectacular location. Good hiking and sites nearby whether you are looking for lakes, wild mustangs in the Salt River, a scenic drive to Tortilla Flats or just enjoying the Arizona weather.
Hiking in the park to accommodate all levels.
Campsites are well maintained. Quiet in the evenings. Could not ask for more.

We stayed here two nights and this place is very well laid out and maintained. Sites all seemed to have ample space- we were in 65. There were others around but it felt private. It was fully packed when we were there, and given how nice it is and the proximity to the greater Phoenix area, I can see why it would be popular. Facilities were clean and convenient. Water and electric hookups at site. There are a ton of hiking trails in the park, and ample places to bike. I highly recommend!

This is a nice spot close to home and easy to get to. My site was a pull through...more a side of the road spot. No shade here at all but otherwise pretty decent. My spot had water and electric. Nice dump station on the way out too

This is a lovely regional park to stay in. The sites are well maintained and the visitor center is worth a look. Wonderful hiking trails around the park. Will stay again!

Almost an urban park just due to it's proximity to the city of Mesa, Usery park offers great tent camping, group campsites, as well as RV Sites with Electric and Water hookups. Dump station on site.
Usery is a great jumping off point for hiking in the National Forest. There is an extensive trail network both in the park and connected to the Tonto National Forest. One of the most popular is Wind Cave Trail.
There is also a world class Archery Range here. There is a usage fee of about $2 (at time of this writing) on top of your park entry fee, but kids are free.

Stumbled upon this great little spot while looking for some stealth camping near the salt river. Great sites, nice park, water & electricity at each site. Close to town, the salt river & canyon lake. Friendly staff, well maintained.

We spent two Fridays in a row here as we wanted to camp and try our new trailer. From home it was a 20 minute drive yet it felt like we were secluded. Very clean with electric and water at each site. Planning a New Years camping week at the end of the year but will likely be there again before that.
