Description
At Milepost 1 of the Tok Cutoff (AK-1) where it branches off the Richardson Highway near the hamlet of Gakona, a paved pullout offers wide views of the braided Gulkana River basin and the distant St. Elias peaks. The turnout is spacious enough to accommodate multiple rigs of any size, including big vehicles, on a slight downhill grade. Traffic is minimal overnight, and a picnic table is present.
