Indian River Roadside Camp

Indian River Roadside Camp provides dispersed camping along a creek in Alaska's interior, accessible by vehicle off the main road. Campers can pull down closer to the water to gain some distance from traffic. The site operates without developed facilities, and restroom access depends on seasonal unlocking schedules.

Wildlife activity occurs regularly in the area, requiring proper food storage and adherence to safety protocols. The location typically sees light use, with solo overnight stays common during shoulder seasons. Visitors heading to campgrounds around Slana will find this roadside option suitable for basic overnight stops when seeking creek access and relative privacy from the main thoroughfare.

Creekside Stay

We stayed the night here in mid May. Bathrooms weren’t unlocked yet. We pulled down by the creek just to get off the road a little more. Great little spot to stay overnight. Nobody else was there. Definitely signs of wildlife so make sure to follow all rules.
