Settler's Cove Public Use Cabin — Settler's Cove State Recreation Site

Settlers Cove State Recreational site is at mile 18 N. Tongass Highway in the Ketchikan District. Located in the temperate rainforest of Southern Southeast Alaska the recreation area is nestled in a quiet spot next to Clover Passage with a 13 site campground, large day use parking lot and two picnic shelters, one by the beach and one along the trail to the waterfall. Both shelters can be reserved by calling 907-247-8574. The Settlers Cove Public Use Cabin is also located within the campground. A rare feature in the Ketchikan area is the sandy beach found along a section of the park. The Hollow Cedar Beach Access Trail provides ADA access with assistance to the beach picnic shelter. The waters of Clover Passage is a kayakers haven. There is a short term parking area with a trail to the beach for Kayak and Canoe launching.

Durring the summer season day use hours are 6am to 10pm. Gate is locked after 10pm. Quiet hours are from 11pm to 6am. Camping is limited to seven days only. Camping is permitted only at a designated campsites or in a designated camping space. The number of persons occupying a campsite is limited to 12. Camps left unattended for two days will be impounded. Fires must be in fireplace grills provided or in portable grills. No Beach Fires. Campsites are first come first serve. A campsite must be paid for the day it is occupied and after camping equipment is set up. A campsite must be occupied each day that it is paid for. No day-use parking in campsites without payment. A campsite must be vacated by 12 PM (noon), local time, unless the campsite fee for an additional 24 hour occupancy has been paid for. No camping within one-half mile of a developed campground or within one-half mile of a road in a state park. Permits are required for an assembly of more than twenty people. A person may not leave food or a food container unattended outside a vehicle or in a place or manner reasonably accessible by bears. All pets must be on a leash no more than 9 feet in length in developed areas. Pets must be under control by a person at all times. Waste created by pets MUST be cleaned up by those responsible for the pet. Refuse created in the park must be placed in the dumpster provided. Refuse shall not be brought into the park for disposal. No person may discharge a weapon, explosive, gas operated explosive, or similar device in a State Recreation Site.
