Lynx Lake Cabins — Nancy Lake State Recreation Area
Description
Nancy Lake State Recreation Area is different from most Alaskan park areas. It is one of the few flat, lake-studded landscapes in Alaska preserved for recreation purposes. The recreation area's clear waters are ringed with unspoiled forests, and provide tranquil settings for canoeing, fishing, hiking and camping. In winter, the rolling topography is ideal for cross-country skiing, dog mushing and snow machining.
The use and discharge of a bow and arrow or trap for the purpose of lawful hunting or trapping is allowed in the Nancy Lake State Recreation Area, except within one-quarter mile of a developed facility.
The use of aircraft is allowed in the Nancy Lake State Recreation Area except that the use of float-equipped aircraft in the Nancy Lake State Recreation Area is prohibited on South Rolly Lake; Bald Lake; Tanaina Lake; Milo Lake; Ardaw Lake; Jacknife Pond; Frazer Lake; Little Frazer Lake; Charr Lake; Owl Lake; James Lake; Chicken Lake; Big Noluck Lake; Little Noluck Lake; Milo Pond; the Echo Ponds; Candlestick Lake; Buckley Lake; and Skeetna Lake. The use of aircraft for the purpose of practice landing is prohibited in the Nancy Lake State Recreation Area. The use of motorized boats is allowed in the Nancy Lake State Recreation Area on Nancy Lake; Lynx Lake; Butterfly Lake; Red Shirt Lake; and the Little Susitna River. A person may not use a personal watercraft on Red Shirt Lake. A person may use an electric trolling motor on South Rolly Lake.
If the director finds that the snow depth is adequate to protect underlying vegetation, the director shall open Nancy Lake State Recreation Area to the use of snow vehicles south of the Nancy Lake Parkway.
