Centennial Campground is located in east Anchorage near downtown and the Glenn Highway, an ideal jumping off point for Alaska travelers. The campground has 84 sites (21 RV with electricity; 20 RV non-electric; 42 RV/tent; and two group sites), and is an excellent place to begin an Alaska adventure. The Best Camping Near Soldotna, Alaska

Centennial Campground in Soldotna Alaska will be bursting at the seams in June and July. Fishing season will be in full swing and getting a spot may be tricky- as they take no reservations- but WORTH IT! Especially if you like to fish.

Kenai river runs swift and strong alongside this Campground.. along with a beautiful boardwalk along that. Feels like your walking on water!

There are parts of the boardwalk that lead straight to the water with metal stairs for access and easy fishing. They have fish cleaning stations and HANDICAP FISHING SPOTS!! And discounts for military- love this!

There is day stay rates and overnight. For day stay it's mainly for fishing- there is also a parking area and open place to fish- we call this time of year "combat" fishing-- shoulder to shoulder--

but the beauty of the river and some treed spaces make this a great place to "fish camp"

We have camped both in high fishing season and early September when an occasional silver will run. This is a quieter time and much more relaxing. There will be fewer people in September as well.

Soldotna Alaska Centennial Campground

My family and I stayed here in June. We were sad to see that there was no one on duty at nights for the most part as weird people would come and go all hours of the night. Druggies would be seen setting up camp after hours and leaving before open hours. The showers are a plus. Cute little playground. Good chance to see bears.

Great family weekend campground and is right on the river providing amazing fishing opportunities. This campground is huge! So lots of trails and boardwalks to ride bikes, walk dogs, get out and explore. Check out the City of Soldotna website for all the details and list of all the fees and discounts for trip planning.

Camping spots are large and offer fire pits and picnic tables. Extra vehicles are charged the same fee as the RV. So if you drive down and have an RV to get the spot and have a friend in a car joining you later they charge the car same price as the RV. Wish they’d have a price break for extra vehicles.

Huge campground right on the Kenai River!

Grew up coming to this campground for the last 20 years. Many upgrades and nice trail system around the campground. Great place to camp with your dogs. However the dogs hate the grated boardwalks. 

Alaskan campground right in the middle of Soldotna

If you’re looking for a campground with access to the Kenai River, and walk distance to downtown Soldotna, this is it. Typical Alaskan camping...no hookups, but nicely wooded and mostly private. Walking distance to some of the best road accessible fishing in Alaska.

Good central location 

Nice campground. Busy on weekends. Near town. Camp host from Mississippi (there are 2) is an ahole. One of those who lets a little power get to his head ( you know the type). I thought it might just be me but after talking to close to a dozen other campers everyone had had a run in with him. He lives to find a reason to yell at you for no reason. Wants to make sure you have a terrible time for some reason 

Great spot on the river. Camp host is a jerk

We stayed for 5 days in June. The fishing access was great. The staff keep this places very nice. I don’t know if it is just because they are clearing out all of the Bettle killed spruce, but they give you a real bundle of firewood for $6. I thought I would carry 2 bundles back to camp, but had to go get a wagon. It lasted us 4 nights.
The spaces are nice and very green. Did not feel like your normal gravel lot.

In the middle of it all

Excellent,  relaxing,  convenient,  accessible, high end of   affordable. 

Right on the Kenai river with a campground and boat launch. Tons of stores etc in Soldotkna minutes away to include a laundry mat five minutes away.

Road in is dirt and in good condition. They have people at the front that collect fees of people coming and goin. Lots of people coming through to use the boat launch, but you can't beat the beautiful turquoise of the Kenai river. Also, a beautiful mile or so trail along the river so people can pay $8 to park for the day. Plenty of restrooms and picnic tables. level camping spots and spots were nice and spread out so you aren't on top of your neighbor. 

Also, close to Kenai Wildlife Refuge, a couple minutes away. So check out the visitors center and the trails off the visitors center. Well maintained and scenic!

Convenient campground

Beautiful campground. Clean facilities. BUT the $23/vehicle/campsite killed the 5 stars this place deserves. Be aware that if you have a towed car or motorcycles with your camper they will charge you even though you are in one site. And this fee is not on the entrance sign nor the City of Soldotna website.

Hidden fees killed the love

Other than not having running showers after a long day of fishing so you can wash off some sand and other dirt off yourself. It is a pretty great place. Very close to the river. A lot of places to fish, etc. very cheap for a place like this. 

9 out of 10. 

It was an amazing camping site, everything was near us, the water, restroom and the fishing area.
