The Best Camping Near Cantwell, Alaska

This place is incredible. Simply put. Its first come first serve. We stayed here for 1 night and camped directly on the creek. Not sure how many sites there are in total but we explored the area and found folks camped all over the place. There were people with 4 wheelers cruising around that looked like they had been there quite a long time. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Its smaller compared to other camp grounds in the area with less people and less b/s. Alaska in the summer especially near the parks camps can be pretty overwhelming. We did meet an awesome family who took us for a little ride on they're 4 wheelers and showed us more of the area. Its beautiful.

We camped here for the first time in 2017\. We have now made it a plan to visit once every season. We have decided to end our camping season is with this spot. It is perfect for families with a little over 21st come first serve camp sites. The spot is about 30 miles east of the Parks Highway with beautiful views along the way. The kids rode their bikes, picked berries, hiked, fished and played in the creek. I would highly recommend this camping trip be added to your summer!

An end of season must stay

I abosolutely love this campground. The drive is amazingly beautiful with great views and wildlife spottings. With a camper trailer we went slow on the Denali highway (about 25) the whole time. There are about 20 first come first serve sites. There was not a camp host this year but there will be for 2019\. A lady does come clean the campgrounds and does a great job. There is a nice atv/waking trail with berry pickings. There’s a creek for fishing and rafting. There is a water pump on site for water. There’s also a communal area with cooking and storage lockers. There is one over flow parking/camping area that was used by a group and seemed like a fun spot to gather. Lots of bike riding opportunities. This is a perfect spot for families, hikers, fishers or just people who want to hangout and enjoy the scenery. We will be 100% be coming back next year.

Perfect rain or shine

We got here when it was dark and on a Wednesday night in mid September we thought it would be empty -WRONG. It was pretty full. Most likely due to all the hunting. I liked the campground but there is a dog kennel on the other side of the river and the dogs bark and howl all night. And that I could have gotten used to but since I camp with my dogs they had a really hard time settling down for the night. This is a well maintained campground. But the Denali Highway you have to take to get there and we o lay went 37 miles was rough and really slow. 

Well used especially during hunting season

I was planning on camping along the Denali Highway, but ran out of water and found myself here. Nice little campground. Lots of activity and noise across the creek from the campground - I can only guess it is a sled dog kennel - but it was tolerable. Restrooms and potable water an easy walk from any site.

This is a beautiful campground with a sounder full day use shelter by the creek. 
On the other side of the creek is a dog sled team who communicate regularly, so use ear plugs near the creek.

Beautiful camp ground. Right off brushkana creek. Nice and quite. 

Amazing camp ground 

This is a nice campground for truck campers, small trailers, etc. If you have a long trailer or big rig only sies 18, 21, and 22 are very usable. These are in the large gravel area to the left just as you turn in. If you have a big rig or long trailer DO NOT go beyond this point. It will be very bad on you getting out. 

Water hand pump available. Nice river nearby. beautiful valley with mountains all around.
