Drive-in dispersed camping sits along the 48-mile marker of Chena Hot Springs Road within the Chena River State Recreation Area. The Alaska Department of Natural Resources manages this roadside camping area, which provides basic access for RVs and tent campers without developed facilities or designated sites.
Campers select their own spots along the accessible portions of the area. The Chena River SRA Dispersed — Chena Hot Springs Road offers similar dispersed camping less than a mile away, while Red Squirrel Campground provides developed sites with amenities for those preferring more structure.
