## Overview

 Service Campground is situated along the high banks of Coffeeville Lake, the third largest lake on the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway in Alabama. With a surface area of 8,800 acres and a length of 97 miles, the area provides excellent opportunities for camping, fishing and boating.
## Recreation

 Fishing is the most popular activity on the waterway. Whether fishing on or off shore, anglers can fish for bass, crappie, bream, catfish and other species. Visitors have the convenience of a boat ramp, and children can make use of the facility's playground. Campers can also sit back and enjoy the peaceful, scenic shoreline.
## Natural Features

 A mixed pine and hardwood forest lines the lakeshore. The campground is surrounded by dense conifer stands and rolling meadows that feature colorful wildflower displays. Wood ducks, bald eagles and many other species of wildlife inhabit the lake area. Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway consists of six lakes with a total length of 457 miles and 39,800 surface acres of water.

The Best Camping Near Silas, Alabama

Pretty campground with 2 great tent sites right on the river. Amazing sunsets. It was pretty cold so the mosquitoes were quiet but I imagine they get bad in warmer weather due to the adjacent swamp. I'm pretty sure we heard gators in the swamp at night. Awesome. Only complaint was a lack of enforcement of quiet hours. There was a hootenanny at one of the nearby campers that cussed and drank until midnight.

nIce park next to tombigbee  river, has 2 play areas,a boat launch (free to launch for campers), pull through pads with awesome view of river. only thing is that is does not have sewer hook up but has dumping station 

awesome and clean!!

This COE park is located right on the banks of the Tombigbee waterway where you can sit and watch the barges take their goods up or down the river. 
The Park Ranger and camp host were very friendly and welcoming. We chose site 13 which was right on the river. Most of the sites were available mid week.  You can choose river front or wooded sites. 
There is a hiking trail and a playground for the kids. The bathrooms and showers were clean but somewhat dated. There is a washer and dryer available as well.  A boat launch is also available in the park. 
We will definitely plan to return to this park.

So peaceful. A hidden gem!

We arrived a little later in the evening however.. gayle was awesome! She met us right out front of the main gate and explained the amenities that were available to us and how to easily access our campsite. Other then some non enjoyable chatty Kathys talking by our vehicles and aimlessly walking around like they had nothing better to do.. it was a great experience. They have full hookups and water as well as very clean restrooms and hot shower facilities. The camp area itself is very spacious with more then enough space between spots. I would recommend and would again. 

Easy boondocking 

We stayed at site 7. Great view of river. Loved the barges on the river. Close to bathrooms. The camp site and bathrooms were very clean. The Hosts were friendly helped where ever you need. The hosts gave us fire wood that helped allot. There is a Dollar General and gas station 4 miles away if you need to get supplies. Verizon had great reception.very quiet camp site very relaxing. Enjoyed the hiking trails.

Quiet relaxing

Park is specious, nice big level site on asphalt - we didn't need to put blocks at all. Right of the river.
The bad: too many bugs, ok we are in the humid south b, on the river, so bugs are to be expected. But, even with insects repellent - they still came, no relief. We had to be inside the RV.
Other issue: no trash cans nearby. Ok, so we are fine with 1 trash for several sure. But no, the 1 trash was at the entrance, 300 yards away.
More: you can go and swim in the river even when it's 10ft away. You have to go to the day camping , all the way on the other side of the trv parking.
Internet for ATT is bad, maybe 1mb/sec download.
If it wasn't for the beautiful setting I would give it just 3 stars. But the river is so nice, so 4stars

Very nice on the river, clean & quiet 

I was quite pleased with our stay here. Camped in spot #8 directly across from the bathhouse and playground. The kids didn't want to leave and asked to come back. A few families and many fishermen filled the campground. Everything was clean with very minimal trash that we helped to pick up. Camp hosts were friendly and efficient.

I tent-camped at site 15, located at the very end of the campground.  Site 15 and 16 are on a peninsula. They are the quietest and most isolated sites at Service Campground. Site 16 has a bit more space and is closer to the parking spots. Site 15 has a small pathway leading down to the water for easy fishing. The site already had firewood, but the hosts pointed out a pile near the bathhouse that campers were free to take. The sun rises right in front of both spots and disappears behind trees by 3pm.  The mosquitos weren't as bad as I suspected, but the other creepy critters come out in numbers to explore after sunset.  That's to be expected being surrounded by water.  Owning a boat would be a major plus here!  It was a great trip and I'd definitely return!
