Rainbow Falls State Park Campground

Great loop of campsites. Open field. Clean restrooms. Rock/Cliff water access. And, wooded campsites with lots of privacy.

Such a fun experience and had the best spot in the entire campsite! Great trails and swimming spots for the doggos. The campsite was spacious and was plenty of room to fit 2 large tents. Really enjoyed the open field to do some late night stargazing! Overall was a cool place and I would definitely come visit again!

Stayed here as part of a 20-person group. Great spot for meeting between Portland and Seattle! Only 20 minutes off the freeway but you feel way out in the country. The only downside is the road noise nearby. People zooming by on the country road. Outside of that, it’s a beautiful spot. Dogs played in the river. Camp was clean and spacious.

Big open park space for kids to play. Hiking along falls is fun. Swimming in hot weather would be great. It was COLD in June. Sites are nice.

Dispersed sites - most standard, but some partial hook up sites available. Forested campground with large playing field nearby. Willapa Hills hiking trail nearby, river access with some swimming available (but no designated areas or lifeguards). Showers available/uses tokens.

Horse camp sites too!

The campsite was clean and our spot was nice and private. Good hiking areas nearby!

Very clean dog friendly

Stayed here for 2 nights at the end of December and had almost the whole place to ourselves - there were only 2 other campers. It was lovely and quiet, but expect to hear road noise from the nearby highway. The bridge to the old growth trails washed away years ago, so you have to drive to the other side of the falls to get to those trails. Some of the sites are really close together. I can't imagine staying here in the summer where there would be little privacy, but in the winter it's a nice spot to relax for a couple of days. The bathrooms were clean and the camp host was very friendly.

We loved that this was right by the river and we could go swimming. Also there was a giant field that was great for playing soccer and baseball with the kids.

I should have done a little more research before reserving a spot as this was not what I was looking for. There were pastures and fields surrounding the campground which was set back in a part of forrest. The street in front of the campground was a main road that cars and tractors drove up and down all day. All of the other campers were quiet and respectful but the location was not what we had hoped for. As far as recreation goes, neither we nor our neighbors could find the falls. There were regular flush toilets available and it was decently clean. Plenty of field space and climbing toys for families. We stayed in site 48 which was away from the other campsites but near the entrance to the campground and close to the road.

First off, rainbow falls are not what you would expect by the name. It is located on a river which has a small drop which is more of a small rapid then a water fall.

That being said, the campground is well kept. There is a large field with a playground, pavilion, and playground. The river had a lot of great swimming holes for all ages.

Rainbow Falls themselves aren't too impressive but my kids still had fun playing in the river. The campground was on the smaller side with only one loop but it had a huge field to play in and a small playground. Some sites are huge and others are tiny so be sure to check out the pictures beforehand to know what you're booking. Overall we enjoyed our stay there.

Rainbow falls CG is a little worn out not to mention the restrooms in the CG were under new construction so it was quite a walk to the park restrooms if you didnt want to use the porta potty...

Big open field for playing, horseshoe pits, small playground, river trail, and fishing.
