Tall pines line the forested hillsides of Hyner Run State Park Campground, which sits along a creek corridor in north-central Pennsylvania, roughly four miles east of camping spots around North Bend. The campground runs from the second week of April through mid-December and accepts drive-in access only, with a 35-foot RV limit. Sites with full hookups, including electric, water, and sewer, make it a workable stop for RV travelers as well as tent campers. Those who want a cabin stay can look at the Modern Cabin at Hyner Run State Park, located just northeast.
Creekside sites are a draw here. Site 8 in particular sits directly along the water, and reviewers consistently mention the sound of the creek as a notable feature of overnight stays. The bathrooms and showers are tiled and well-maintained, which stands out for a state park facility. Tent sites appear spread out relative to many comparable campgrounds. One practical note: timber rattlesnakes have been spotted both at campsites and on nearby trails, so campers with pets or small children should stay alert.
The surrounding area gives campers access to hiking and biking trails, a swimming pool on site, and fishing. Adjacent Hyner View State Park, just next door, has a well-known overlook above the Susquehanna River and serves as a launch point for hang gliders. "Everything clean and well cared for," notes Amber A., who also points to the broader network of state parks and forests within reach. This campground works best for campers who want utility hookups alongside access to rugged central Pennsylvania terrain.
