Adventure Dog & Co
What an awesome trip! My boyfriend and I, along with our two dogs, went camping at Newport at the end of September in 2020. Stayed at campsite 4. We elected to hike in from where we parked at Lot 3 along the trail that kept us near the water, which I highly recommend. It is a harder hike if you are packing a lot of gear, but definitely worth seeing that trail on the trip. We stayed at Site 4, and would absolutely stay there again. The site itself is surrounded by the woods, but a short ~20 ft trail of the main campsite takes you to your own sandy beach where there are a few good hammock trees. The only downside about site 4 was that site 3 and 4 were definitely the two closest sites to on another at the park but even still, I felt like there was plenty of privacy between the two. On day two we hiked the trail and got a look at any of the campsites that weren’t occupied. We both agreed that if we come back, we would want to do site 4 again for a couple days, then do site 12 for the rest - which was on rocky beach but a fantastic view overhead and of the horizon for stargazing and sunrise/sunsets (I think you would catch both from 12).
Pictures/video are all from site 4.
