Great spot

This was my first time camping in over 10 years and my first solo trip. I felt really safe. The bath house was cleaned regularly. The lake was beautiful. It's easy to find off the highway, and far enough from the next town to be quiet but not so far if you have a reason to go into town (like say,…

Gorgeous and quiet spot along the Shenandoah River

Normally we’re tent campers, but this time we opted for the climate controlled cabins of this state park. Cabins were wonderful. Essentially a little house off in its own little “cabin neighborhood.” Kitchen was fully stocked with just about anything you’d need. Only thing you need to bring are…

Primitive camping

The hard thing about this place is you have to park on the road and haul all of your stuff across the field and over the fence so it’s not exactly easy to get all of your equipment at the campsite. Also there is a Amtrak main line, about 3 miles north river, and all through the night it was train…

Squeezing in a trailer

We made a decision to camp on the eve of a potential blizzard. The grounds have sites in close proximity to a toilet without running water. When we arrived, half of the sites were occupied, but only a few left notes on the board as was requested by the service. We were pulling a 15' trailer and…

Nice, but inconsiderate neighbors

The good: excellent trail to Overall Run Falls and quick drive to Elkwallow Wayside. Sites are tight but enough brush that you don’t feel your neighbor is on your doorstep. The generator free sites and those to the Northeast side of the campground have walk in tent area that will make you feel even…

Great relaxing camp

What a nice camp. The place is clean and well maintained, each site is getting a space for the tent, a picnic table and a fire pit. There are bbq spread all over the camp. The river water were so clean and fun to swim in. We really love this place and the people who own it

Very Decent

My tent spot was #4. The picnic table was missing a board on top. The campground is basically one big circle. There was a couple arguing across the way. Didn't really bother me. But if your sensitive to noise at night just know there's that potential. There are lots of trees that provide some…

AK in WV??

With the incredibly varied landscapes and diverse vegetation, Dolly Sods truly feels like you are somewhere far north from WV. The ferns and evergreens reminded me of being in Maine, the vast meadows felt like I was in Wyoming or Montana.

I spent Labor Day weekend in Dolly Sods. With the…

⬆️💲

I only called to inquire about the cost. Passing through and needed a spot to decompress for a few days. I was told it was $40 a night for a tent site for one person. The guy who answered was super nice but I thought that was really steep. Didn't see cost info anywhere online so thought this might…

Nice place but very noisy.

Loved the grounds, facilities were well maintained and clean. Sites were a bit close and not level. Would go back again except for the non stop noise from the interstate which kept us up all night.

Hidden Gem

We absolutely love this campground! It's well kept, low key and super relaxing. The small park has plenty to offer with the lake (swimming, paddling and fishing) and trails (hiking, running and biking). We come here a couple of times per year! Bathhouse is extremely clean with great water pressure.…

Peaceful Primitive Camping

This place is a gem! Nice wide open site. Unfortunately, someone moved our picnic table to the next site. Too lazy to move it. Pit toilets were pretty clean. Stream was incredible and lively with trout and crayfish. So quiet and very little traffic. Tons of space between sites. Water and dump…

Nice quiet site

This was a short overnight for me just to get my camper organized for a longer trip. I love the Shenandoah national park. Check in was easy - there were plenty of spots to choose from - no hookups here - I circled and picked spot 57 - a quiet wooded site. The bathrooms were reasonably clean- the…
