Lone Ranch Park

General Overview

County

Lone Ranch Park is a small, road-side park located on the Kettle River (approx. 7.8 miles north of the intersection at Tugboat’s restaurant in Curlew). Lone Ranch is one of four small parks created through the auspices of the Ferry County and Stevens County commissioners. Easily accessed, the park is a pleasant place to enjoy a picnic, photograph the scenic Kettle River, and observe the many migratory birds that pass through this riparian wetland.

The park has picnic tables, fire pits (before using fire pits, check with local ranger station or sheriff’s office for burn bans), and one Sani-Can toilet. There are no trash receptacles, because you’re required to remove and dispose of your trash responsibly. Camping

Camping: Allowed (as of the time of this post). Recommended seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn.

All water collected from lakes, rivers, or trails should be treated before drinking. Always plan for injuries and abrupt changes in weather by carrying matches, a knife, first aid supplies, food, water, and extra clothes. Be alert for wildlife and make certain your food and supplies are stored in bear-proof containers. There are no lifeguards present, so wear a life jacket when in the water.

Great river view!

Undeveloped and rather unkempt, but a lovely view of the river. Quiet and free! There is a porta-potty that was clean when we visited but no trash pickup and some litter. Great place for a quick overnight stay.
