The campground sits among ponderosa pines at 8,000 feet elevation, where overnight temperatures can drop into the 20s even during peak season. Sites are organized into three distinct loops, with Loop A designated for RVs up to 50 feet, while Loops B and C accommodate tents and smaller rigs.

Campers consistently note the cramped spacing between sites, particularly in the tent loops where neighboring groups pitch just 15 feet apart. Loop C receives slightly better reviews than Loop B for levelness, though many tent sites throughout the campground have noticeable slopes that require careful setup.  \_\_Sunset Campground is located in beautiful and unique Bryce Canyon National Park. Known for its colorful rock spires and grand vistas that sweep out over the High Plateaus region of the Colorado Plateau, Bryce Canyon is the ultimate camping destination. ## Recreation

 Bryce Canyon offers several [Hiking][2] trails for day-hiking, many of which are inter-connected. Single trails range from easy to strenuous, and from less than a mile in length up to 11 miles (18 km). The most popular hikes are combinations of two or three trails. [Bryce Amphitheater][1] has spectacular rock formations and sweeping views, providing excellent photography opportunities.  Sunset Campground is a very popular site with gravel parking spurs, flush toilets and drinking water. Picnic tables and fire rings with grills are also provided. Everyone talks about Zion and Arches.  I feel like Bryce is underappreciated it.  Truly spectacular.  

Zion gets all the media, but Bryce Canyon is super underrated in my opinion.  Beautiful manageable hiking and views.  Love the camping here, gets cold, stars are amazing!  Deepest Blue skies against sizzling orange rock!  Incredible 

Wow!  Breathtaking!

Visited Bryce Canyon National Park in the heat of summer. The campground is located about half way into the park. You'll find lookout points and trailheads nearby for hiking, scenery, and photography. Remember that the elevation in this park is around 8,000 feet so take into consideration if you're camping in the cooler months or not used to elevation such as myself coming from flat land Minnesota. The rates are affordable. Nearby showers. Affordable and practical campground for those visiting Bryce Canyon. Would recommend.

Affordable tenting in Bryce Canyon

This campground is a hidden gem in an area that is under appreciated.  The facility was clean and the trail heads near by offer plenty of photo ops.  We will be back

The campground was nice but the showers were a bit far from the actual campsites we stayed the night at. But the toilets had a little sink to wash dishes, so that was nice. The location is a bit off from the actual canyon, but overall it was a nice stay!

Bryce Canyon itself was so gorgeous! I felt like I was in some foreign country with deserts! The walks along the trails were not too difficult at all. A very nice park! 

Nice campground 

By the time we arrived at Bryce Canyon National Park, we had been on the road for about a month. We saw our fair share of good and not-so-good campgrounds, and Sunset falls somewhere in the middle of that list. Nothing about this campground was particularly awful, but not much was particularly inspiring, either.

The campground has many benefits, the biggest being its convenience to everything the park has to offer. It is also reservable, which is a very big perk during the peak season. But its downsides are also evident. The sites were cramped, even for our solo tent. The group next to us were loud -- not the campground’s fault, of course, but more spacious sites or vegetation would have helped -- and woke us up multiple times throughout the night. It’s one of the reasons we prefer less-popular campgrounds around the national parks.

Our two nights in Sunset campground did allow us great access to the best of Bryce: we recommend the (popular but oh-so-worth-it) Queens Garden/Navajo Loop Trail, the daily ranger-led geology talks along the Rim Trail, and the scenic drive overlooks, especially Bryce Amphitheater. For more adventurous travelers, we highly recommend the 22-mile Under the Rim Trail for backpacking. Some of our favorite backpacking campsites were here, and the free shuttle system makes it easy to get dropped off and complete this trail one-way.

Breathtaking park, underwhelming campground

We totally lucked out and managed to get a campsite in the tents only loop C. While the sites are not very private and there is a definite slope to the whole loop, the sites were definitely clean and well maintained. Each site has a picnic table, fire pit with grill, and a parking pad. Some sites were definitely larger than others. We ended up on a smaller site with our neighbors pitching their tent just 15 feet from our table. Across the way another group had room to pitch their tent as well as hang 3 hammocks and back their truck in. The bathrooms were nice and clean with flush toilets and electricity (which some camper used to charge a phone, laptop, and extra battery- so much for getting away from it all!). The bathrooms were really clean both days we were there. If you need a shower head on over to the general store at the Lodge where you will find pay showers. There was also a "free" box at the pay station where you could pick up or drop off extras for camping. There was a book, some child's flip-flops, and a partial fuel can when we looked. Across from the pay station is the recycle/trash drop off (very organized with multiple recycling options). This brings up the only downside to the campground- ALL trash must be brought to this one location, there are no trash cans anywhere else in the campground. One of the best parts of Sunset Campground is that it has a free shuttle stop right at the entrance, and right across the street is a short trail to the Rim. You don't need to drive anywhere!

Loved the ability to reserve a spot in the NP. The campsites were shaded, level and large. We had plenty of space and there was shade for after a full day of hiking. The bathrooms were clean.

Great to stay in Bryce Canyon NP

We stayed at sunset campground the first week of June, and it was still very cold! The campground was clean and the host did regular rounds to check on everyone.

There are very clean bathrooms with flushable toilets and running sink water. There is also a separate area with a sink for washing camp dishes. No showers on site.

I was surprised that there were no bear boxes or bear wire available at the campsites considering there are black bears in the area. If you go, make sure to store your food properly.

The campground is in a good location and you can walk to inspiration point as well as some of the other overlooks. Many other trails are in walking distance, but a few points like Rainbow vista you need to drive to.

Overall, it was a good camping experience. We did not reserve a site ahead of time and the campground was almost full by lunchtime. It's pretty popular so get there early!

Convenient to trails and has clean facilities 

Conveniently located right in Bryce Canyon. Many first come first serve sites, but it's best to secure a reservation. Friendly hosts, clean sites, clean restrooms, and the park's shuttle bus stops at the campground. Great place to start a bike ride and hike the great Bryce Canyon!

Sunset Campground, located in Bryce Canyon National Park

We payed for our site, hung up our tag, set up our tent and went hiking. We returned to a notice that our tent was outside of the 20 feet radius of the camp fire and therefore threatening the plant life (it was on a flat completely gravel plot) and if it wasn't moved we would be fined and removed. Not a big deal to move the tent we are just lucky we weren't gone long. It's not easy to tell where they want you to set up there are developed and non- developed sites so read the rules carefully before you set up.

We arrived at 11 am on a Thursday to find 50 % of sites available - by 3 they were full.

But other than that very pretty, well spread out, clean and stocked restrooms no showers. This park does not stock soap in any restrooms - like there is no dispenser even installed so bring your own or wet wipes. Beautiful hiking!

Very strict on rules - fills up fast 

Sites at Sunset Campground can not be reserved, and at 11 am on a Friday morning, we snagged the very last site available. I’ll admit that the site itself wasn’t the best - no privacy at all, and ground that was a bit eroded. We did manage to find a flat spot to pitch the tent, which was the most important thing, and we were super happy to be able to explore many of the trails right from the campground.

The campground had basic amenities - toilets and drinking water, but nothing fancy. There had been a mountain lion spotted a few days before we arrived, so campers, especially those with pets, were on high alert. We took the trail leading from the campground early in the morning, and were excited to have it to ourselves. What a beautiful spot for watching the sunrise.

Campground was first come-first served. Pick an open site with no reservation ticket on the post. Registration and payment box at campground entrance. Has lots of tent camping as well as a section for RVs.

Campground itself was nice and shaded. The sites were dispersed enough so you have some privacy.

Camping in Bryce

We stayed here for one night in mid June. We had a reservation ahead of time, but I don't think the campground was completely full. We stayed in a campervan in B loop (B267). It was very chilly when we were there, temps got down to the 30s at night! Our site was nice, basic campsite. Parking pad wasn't completely level so it was a little tough with the campervan. We made good use of the fire pit with the cold weather. Easy walk across the street to get onto the trails leading around the rim of the canyon as well as in the canyon. We did a trail run/hike on the Navajo, Peekaboo, and Queens Garden loop which was really beautiful. What a unique place!! We didn't need to use park shuttles, etc. as we were only there for a day and spent most of it hiking. Bryce is at around 8,000 feet in elevation, something to keep in mind as it will affect the temperatures as well as breathing! We are from Connecticut and I was huffing and puffing a bit to acclimate. Bathrooms were basic, clean. No showers. I would recommend staying here to explore Bryce, it was conveniently situated and met our needs well!

Nice Camping in Bryce Canyon

From this campground you can walk to the Bryce Canyon shuttle which will take you to all the hikes throughout the National Park. 
I preferred Ruby’s Campground just outside the park. 

Adequate Campground, Good Location

Theres so many amazing and alien rock forms scattered throughout the park! If you only have time to park and view then sunset and sunrise points are amazing. One of our favorite hikes through the park is the wall street through Queens garden loop. Youll be amazed at the colors and shapes that nature is able to create given the time. An even cooler part about the park is that it changes year to year due to heavy erosion so youll be looking at a different view each time you visit.

Best National Park for a day hike!

Sunset Campground in Bryce Canyon National Park is beautiful and spacious, and is very close to some overlooks and the visitor's center. My only complaint is that there wasn't much privacy between sites. It also gets very cold in the campground as it is higher elevation than some other parts of Utah, so bring warm gear if you are tenting.

Spacious campground, walking distance to overlooks

Such an amazing campground. We were sad to not be able to hang our hammocks or anything from the trees but they wanted to protect the trees from bark beetles. Relatively cheap, big spots, and amazing weather. Tons of spots to pick from as well!

Camping was pretty rough due to the heat but the camp grounds are clean, well kept toilet, water access and the views of the stars will take your breath away.

Utah is hot in June

Sunset is the more secluded of Bryce Canyon's two campgrounds. I LOVE that there are separate RV and tent loops and that generators are not allowed in the tent loops. 

I ended up in B loop which is the smallest. Each site is well defined and separated by some vegetation, but not enough to provide privacy. 

The campground host was nice and took her job very seriously. She was happy to ask RVers to leave the tent sites as needed. During the day I could hear but not see the road. The free shuttle system helps minimize traffic in the park. It's an easy walk from the campground so some amazing viewpoints and there's a shuttle stop right at the campground entrance if you want to check out some further sites. The shuttle system was a little confusing when I visited because they had just switched to winter hours that day and were still figuring out the timing and system. 

Each site has a table and fire pit with a bathroom nearby. The bathrooms also have well maintained rooms to wash dishes in, something I haven't seen before. 

Bryce Canyon is incredible! If you're looking for an easy but breathtaking hike I suggest doing some of the Rim Trail. If you do this hike while the shuttles are running it doesn't have to be an out and back, you can just choose two shuttle stops to hike between.

Just Wonderful!

Sunset is one of two campgrounds in Bryce Canyon National Park in Southwest Utah.  Bryce is a beautiful canyon and a must see if you are touring southern Utah.   The canyon top drive extends over twenty miles with numerous lookouts points.  The campgrounds are close to the main entrance and provide a great option for all levels of campers.  The sites are occupied by primarily tent campers as well as smaller trailers and vans.  The campground is in a nice wooded ponderosa pine area within walking and biking distance of the canyon.  The campground roads were recently repaved and the sites were well maintained.  Each site had a fire ring and picnic table as well as close access to fresh drinking water.  The campground is a great launching point for riding bikes and going on hikes throughout the park.   Bryce does not get the same number of visitors as Zion but you will need to make a reservation during the peak season to secure a campsite.  We visited in October and the campground was full and had been for the previous two weeks.  The temps got down to the low 20s at night in October.  So you will need to pack a warm sleeping bag and winter ready gear.   While we preferred Zion and Arches Park, Bryce is with the visit.   

Great  National Park Campground 

Talked to the ranger at North Campground (which was full by 4 pm) and she said they closed Sunset a week or so ago due to cold temps and no campers. Now the weather is perfect but they are not re-opening Sunset, despite loads of campers here today. 

Closed early

Decided to head to Bryce Canyon and camp at Sunset campground. I was in site 249 the last site for RV’s in loop A.
Spacious spot however very little privacy. There are plenty of pine trees for shade.
Close walk out of the campground and you can catch the shuttle to look-out points or trails.
Campground was clean and the host very friendly.
Has no hookups but they do have large trash bins at the entrance of the campground.
I would definitely stay there again.

Did not camp here, campground was full. Drove through and looked though.  Just as nice as the North Campground although no trails start out of here.

Nicely organized campground. Walkable to Sunset Point. All sites in Loop B have easy access to bathroom. Clean facilities include bathroom, dish sink, water (no shower). Picnic table and a fire ring with grill provided. Open, some shade, no privacy. Room for one vehicle each site. Our 18' van fit just right. Loop B, #267.

Well maintained, good location

This is a large campground in a wooded area offering shade and some privacy.  There are 50 RV sites, 50 tent sites and 1 group site.   No water, sewer or electric.  Great proximity to the trails of the main park.

Great Location

There isn’t a ton of privacy but I really like this campground and Bryce is just amazing! Most sites have the table/fire pit area behind your RV/trailer and not on the side. If you’re going in the summer and want shade I suggest bringing a pop up tent because you may not get to use your awning much since you’re not setting up on the side.

The campground was in a beautiful spot with very convenient distance to a lot of the scenic viewpoints and hikes. The bathroom was very nice and clean as well. They have flush toilets with sinks, soap, and an air dryer to dry your hands. I would have given it 5 stars if the campsites weren’t so close to each other. Other than that, it was very nice!

Very nice! A little squished 

Not within eyesight of the main attraction of Bryce, but is hiking distance. Overall spacious for a major national park and well maintained. Close enough to the viewpoints that a quick drive for sunset/sunrise is a breeze.

Sites were nice and quiet. Bathrooms were good. Bryce Canyon is right across from the campground.

We booked the campground a few days ago and we were nervous about the location.  We  loved the site.  We were close to the modern bathroom with dish area for doing dishes. The sites are pretty close together so you can hear talking and van doors.

Sunset campground is worth the money!

Sunset Campground was amazing.  Easy access to the shuttle system and multiple trails.  Amenities were great and site was nice and private.  You can buy everything you need at Ruby's Inn General Store back in town.  Great spot.

Best campsite of our trip!

Clean, well-maintained campsites with flush toilets and showers. No electricity or water. Wonderful dark skies at night. Beautiful sunrise views.

Poor grading for tent sites. Tent sites are in Loop B and Loop C.

Many sites have no privacy. Many sites are poorly graded and badly sloped which is not critical for RV's but is a problem for tents. Loop C  is slightly more desirable than Loop B.

B 269 &amp; 268 seem fairly level, but across the road sites 270, 267, 266, 264 are very sloped.

Loops B &amp; C have very small parking pads...bring your VW to park in Loops B &amp; C

In Loop A many sites get wet in bad weather but for RV's that may not matter.

Nice campground.  Good maintenence.  Learned that the difference between tent and rv is defined by: rv has fixed sink and toilet.  Our van without fixed sink and without build in kitchen was charged as tent.

3⭐️ b/c I didn’t really get to explore the campground much so I don’t think it makes sense to give it more. However I’d give it 5⭐️ just based on my limited stay.

This was a 1 night stop between Zion and Page, AZ.

It was quiet and private. Our site extended pretty far back. There were sites on the sides but not visible from our site. Stars were gorgeous.

Visitor center had a helpful ranger to help with planning. Catching the sunrise was a short (maybe 5 min drive).

Highly recommended as staying in the national park is a plus.

This spot is very gorgeous and is an easy walk to the canyon view points! One thing to look out for are the fees! We chose this spot thinking it was a free camp site, turns out there’s a pay to stay right at the front of the campground. Rangers enforce the rules pretty heavily! V

Beautiful Location

Here at the end of September. Clean bathrooms with flushing toilets central and accessible. Water readily available. Fairly quiet as far as public campsites go. Routinely monitored by park staff.

We went in late December of 2020 and there was about a foot of snow down. It was one of the best campgrounds on our trip!

this is fine for a night, but during a busy summer day with lots of families and kids it would be loud. no views from the campground, though ponderosa pine would provide shade on hot summer day. convenient for an early morning hike. most rv spots are pretty level.

Plenty of shade and pine trees. The campground was pretty quiet, and the bathrooms are exceptionally clean. 

Clean, quiet and shady

This site was $20 a night which is such a steal for the location. Definitely plan on getting there early and reserving a site ASAP, they fill up super quick. The sites were a little close together, but you can hike out of them straight into the park. Easy to reserve your site, the bathrooms were super clean and there was even a separate room just for washing dishes which was so so so nice. No views of the park, just in the woods. But it was a great place to stay for visiting Bryce Canyon! Highly recommend, just get there early!!! Tents, RVS, the whole works. 
PS. The animals in the area are super friendly and clearly get fed ALL the time (they’ll walk right up to you) so just remember to keep your distance and don’t feed them!!!!!

On a 6 month road trip with no reservations. Pulled in on Sunday, June 4th and had several site options. 
Bathrooms are clean as is the camp sink. 
Loop A is RV only. 
3 dumpsters for trash. 
Dump station and water fill is included in reservation. $5 for those without. 
Fairly level asphalt pads with fire pit and picnic table. Nice setting among the trees. 
Shuttle stop and access to multi use path at top of hill. 
Ram truck towing a 22” TT
Stayed 3 nights as there is plenty to explore. 

Great option smaller RVs

This campground was first come first serve, so I was worried it would already be packed since I was visiting over Labor Day weekend. Thankfully there were plenty of open spots. Close to lots of trails and view points in the park.

Nice campground in Bryce Canyon NP

This campsite was amazing and so convenient to be in the park. We were here during the eclipse weekend and were surprised at how quiet the campground was despite it being full. The trees help with shade &amp; dulling the noise. There is two loops that are strictly tents only which is super nice. Facilities were clean and easily accessible. $20 a night or 50% if you have an interagency pass. Nice fire ring &amp; picnic table at each spot. Well maintained and was so much fun. Just to note some spots are on a bit of a slope.

Convenient, quiet and clean 

I drove through just to check out the tent camping. They really pack them in there. I would not enjoy being so close to other campers. Feels unnatural.

Scout it out if you can

This is one of only 2 campground in Bryce Canyon NP. It is to be a first come first serve but now during the busy season reservations are required. Sunset camprground  is quieter and less busy than North campground and the sites feel a bit more secluded. Direct access to biking and hiking trails. There is also a shuttle stop right at the entrance of the campground which allows you to leave your car behind while you visit the park. Except for loop A, the driveway surface for most sites is uneven, something to consider if you have a van. Vans can reserve in both the RV and tent section. Another perk of using a camper van. 

Perfect location within Bryce Canyon NP

This is the ideal place to stay in Bryce! Beautiful campgrounds in the forest, minutes walk away from Sunset Point for lots of trails. The toilets and sink wash were clean and warm. No hook ups and dump at North was closed. We stayed in April and it got to around -7C / +30 Fahrenheit in the van! 

Loved it!!!

Super close to some great trails in Bryce. Mild weather and protected by trees. It got very cold at night, around 27⁰F. Slept in a tent with 0⁰ rated bags. Perfectly comfy.

Quiet forest with great access

Sunset CG is a great spot! (a lot better than North CG - IMO) - I’ve camped here a few times now - clean, spacious sites create privacy - There’s almost always sites available - Great location! Don’t forget to head to Sunset point for Sunset!

No hookups but flush toilets and community sink to wash dishes. Parking pads are asphalt. Nice picnic tables and fire pit at each site. Walking distance to Sunset and Rim trails.  Location is full and it’s Sunday evening in mid-October.

Shaded and clean

Decent in all aspects, love that’s it’s close to beautiful hikes! The dump station is closed as of 10/15/25.
