Great family campground
I am biased since I’ve been camping here since I was a kid. Now I take my own kid here. Love the Hickey side with the old school stove style fireplaces. The swimming hole is great though remember you have to hike back up. And of course if you forgot anything there is the Peg House right across the highway.
Peaceful and quiet
Surrounded by trees, the wind, and a small river was very lovely to nap at. Not too busy either
In the trees
Campground right on 101. Big redwoods surround each site. Flushing toilets, hot showers, water available. Next to the South Fork Eel River. Diner with walk up window and General store across the Highway.
Nice little place
Not a bad place to spend a few night. Affordable spots and a Gorgeous nature area. Plenty to do all day, hiking and swimming paradise.

Close to the Peg House
This campsite was great. Bear boxes and fire rings with access to a great swimming hole. We were also located across the 101 from the Peg House which is worth the stop.

Beautiful campground near the redwoods
This campground is an excellent stopping point along the 101 Highway and the South for of the Eel River. It has great access to the River for swimming/fishing, and the camp sites are well spaced and many are very privately tucked down in the trees. There is a bunch of wildlife including river otters which we saw while here, and some bald eagles! Nearby are some great hiking trails, some of which travel through groves of redwoods. Sadly while we were at this location the opposite bank of the river which usually houses a whole other section of campground and is much closer to the River was closed for renovation/construction purposes. However we still enjoyed this beautiful location.
Tall trees & good fishing
Great place to stay on your way up the coast or for a vacation in itself. The campsites are surrounded by beautiful tall trees, that block the nearby road noise. The hike down to the river isn’t bad but can be tiring coming back up at the end of the day. Cars allowed but not trailers to make it easier. My wife caught a nice trout for dinner. Would recommend and return.
