The Best Camping Near The Colony, Texas

I stayed at several campgrounds on Lake Lewisville, but I Hidden Cove was the best.  It has a huge marina and restaurant.  The campsites are pretty and have a decent amount of room.  The bathrooms are not all conveniently spaced but overall it is a nice campground.

One of the things that sets it apart from the other campgrounds is that there are several cabins that you can rent.  They are basically structures that keep you out of the elements, but it is a good place to set up a cot and have a nice night of sleep.

There are rentals for kayaks, paddle boards, etc.  If you like camping and enjoying the Lake, go visit Hidden Cove.

Hidden Cove is the best park I saw on Lake Lewisville, Texas

Stayed here as a group traveling to the Frisco, Texas area for a college football game. We spent 2 nights in a RV. Was within close distance to where we were attending the football game. We stayed in the off season (winter months) and met our needs. Note, we were basically looking for a place to park the RV to sleep and spend the night while in the area and didn't want to stay in a Walmart parking lot. Didn't utilize the lake but looks like a nice man made lake. Would stay again if in the area.

Met our groups' expectations and needs

Overall, the park is nice. Most Sites appear to be good size (at least those near our site). Has store onsite for drinks, snacks, etc. Ability to rent paddle boards and kayaks at the park to enjoy the lake. The beach area left a bit to be desired, but it does provide access to the lake. Allows pets, as long as they are kept on a leash.

The Turkey Loop left us less than impressed. The outer sites are more tree'd and private, while the inner spots have little to no trees or privacy. We switched to Bobcat Lane and were thoroughly impressed. Lots of trees and the sites were spaced apart. Also near a trail head. They are still in the process of building cabins and group quarters, they look like they'll be fantastic once completed! The hike wasn't much to write home about, but for being so close to home, we couldn't complain! Their day use area on the lake was quite busy, but the 'beach' gave the kids a great way to cool off and burn off some energy.

Nice Park Close To Home

We go here when we went to stay close to home. We’ve stayed in the tent area and the RV area. Both are always clean and the staff is always friendly. Great place!!

Here’s a pic of my rig in spot 44b at Hidden Cove Park this past Saturday. This is a private run campground for tents and RVs. They also have cabins and a bunkhouse for rent. Great full service restaurant and marina where you can rent all types of water toys. Had a great time and I’ll return soon.

Great Urban Campground 

A little pricey $42-$50.  No laundry and the showers are like old high school showers.  Nice grounds and it's right on Lake Lewisville.   Staff is friendly.  Online won't let you reserve next day.  Call for availability.

Great RV, tent and cabin place on Lake Lewisville.  Forgot something?  Your 5 minutes from town.   Want dinner?  They have a marina restaurant!  Full rental facility as well!

RV and tent sites are spacious. Lots of lake access from sites. They also have cabins for rent. The staff is friendly. 

Excellent weekend getaway

Clean and spacious RV sites in two areas, about 100 total and several with water view. Open and tree covered sites in both. Cabins also available, again several with water views. Two designated tent camping areas separate from RVs. Dry storage and dump station on property as well. The park offers open activity areas and covered picnic tables by the water. A 3-lane boat ramp to Lewisville Lake, rental paddle boarding, full marina, and swimming area. Seasonal restaurant with indoor &amp; outdoor eating areas. Privately owned so there is an entry fee, but 2 or 3 levels of yearly membership passes available saves a lot! Currently upgrading to full hookup for all RV sites and wifi.

Not just for camping!

This place is calm and pleasant during the day. At sundown, the party starts and goes till 2:00am. If you are looking for a quiet evening, this ain’t the place. If you are good with day time activities and loud music at night, join the party. My kids and I will go back simply because it is a clean park with nice tent camping spots.

First camping

First time here and we really enjoyed how close it is to our house. The grounds were nicely kept as well and the play area had cool shade trees, great for pictures.  We primitive camped in spot #19, lake front in front of marina rught by the bathrooms. Hardly anyone there, which was nice bc the spots are close together.  The bathroom spotlight stayed on all night, but didnt really bother us too much. We will definitely be back to try spots 27 or 28 which seem to be pretty popular. Fish were jumping, but we never caught any and the onsite restaurant bar and grill was super convenient for dinner.

Tent camping

This is nature at it’s finest for sure.  Family of turkey’s hangs out at the campgrounds.  I get it is nature, but with little kids or dogs it is not the safest.  The shower situation is SCARY!!!!  They have not cleaned out the spider webs and dead bugs and crawling things from the ceiling in YEARS!!!  The showers, toilets &amp; sinks all feel disgusting and dirty.  Avoid it all costs.  The restaraynt on the grounds is only open Wednesday through Saturday.  The grounds are mostly dirt, not much grass at all.  The lake is a pretty view, but that is about it.  Everything we had left these grounds disgusting and dirty.  They have such an opportunity due to their location, but apparently that is not a concern at this time.  Disappointed and we won’t be back.

It's a good camp ground. However for T-Mobile service is not good enough for work or streaming. The office wifi isn't strong enough to connect at a distance
