Highway travelers will find Pecos Park positioned directly alongside the main road in Mentone, making for easy big rig access despite rough entry conditions. The campground features oversized picnic tables and regular trash service, though broken glass and debris scatter around the perimeter areas. Road noise requires earplugs for light sleepers.

With limited camping infrastructure in this remote stretch of West Texas, the park serves as a practical overnight stop for those needing places to camp around Mentone. Cell service remains available for connectivity. Plan to arrive during daylight hours to navigate the rougher access road safely.

Rough, but it works

Campsites are few and far between in this part of the world, and Pecos Park is a welcome option. Plenty of sites with giant picnic tables and trash cans that seem to get emptied regularly. Lots of trash and broken glass on the perimeter. It’s right on the highway, so bring your earplugs.
