Riverpark Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Kayakers, rafters, and anglers have direct access to the Nolichucky River at Riverpark Campground, a KOA property set along one of the river's well-known whitewater sections near the Big Rocks rapid outside Jonesborough, Tennessee. The campground is small by design, which keeps the atmosphere from feeling crowded. Sites are split between an upper section, where the camp store and bathhouse are located, and a lower section with pull-through, back-in, and riverfront options. All sites include full hookups with electric, water, and sewer connections, and RVs up to 65 feet can be accommodated.

The riverfront sites sit close to the water. Reviewers consistently mention the sound of the rapids as a constant backdrop, and the river draws a steady mix of paddlers and swimmers during warmer months. Fishing is another draw, and boat-in access is available for those arriving by water. One practical note worth heeding: the campground can flood when river levels rise, so checking water output before arrival is advisable.

The bathhouse earns repeated praise from visitors. Base WiFi is included in site fees, with faster streaming speeds available for an additional charge through the campground's portal. Cell service is noted as a consideration in at least one review. The camp store stocks firewood, ice, and camping supplies, and day-use access is reserved for registered guests only. Those looking for camping near Erwin will find Riverpark sits roughly ten minutes from town, making resupply straightforward. The Jonesborough / Cherokee NF KOA Journey is another nearby option for campers weighing alternatives in the area.

Peaceful

What a surprise. Small campground on the river. Very quiet while we were there. The owners and hosts were sooo nice. Bathrooms remodeled and clean. We didn't do river view but will definitely do it next time. A place to relax!

Family Campground on the Nolichucky River

Riverpark is a privately owned campground situated at the classic Big Rocks rapid on the Nolichucky river.  The top part of the campground is where you will find the camp store that has a nice selection of local crafts and goods for sale, as well as firewood, ice and many other camping necessities that you may need.  Also, the bath house, which is probably the cleanest bathroom you will ever find at a campground is up top.  In the lower section of the campground there are pull through sites, back in sites and of course the wonderful river front sites.  There are no life guards on duty and the river is wild so use at your own risk.  That said, depending when you visit the water maybe suitable for swimming, other times not so much. If you are into whitewater kayaking, be sure to bring your play boat. However, there is no day use available for anyone who is not staying at the campground, unless you are visiting someone who is staying at Riverpark. So no park and play available here.  The prices vary depending on the site, but all sites have full hookups including premium cable television. Base Wi-Fi is available as part of your site fee, but if you plan to stream videos or need faster internet, it is available for an additional fee that can paid for through following the prompts with no trip to the office necessary.

Spacious Riverside Camping

I just love this campground! It’s small, quaint and the owners are super nice. The riverfront spaces are amazing and just inches away from the Nolichucky River. If you love to fish or kayak this is a great location.

The bathhouses are super clean. Do check the output of the river because this campground will flood. That’s the only reason I give it a 4 star instead of 5.

Right on the River

We really enjoyed this campground. Its not a huge place which adds to the allure. The campground is located on an exciting section of the Nolichucky River about 10 minutes from Erwin, TN. During our stay we enjoyed watching kayakers, rafters, and swimmers take on the river. The mountains provide a nice breeze through the grounds and the constant and reassuring sound of the rapids was enough to drone out our children’s whine. It’s a wonder place!
