Wonderful place

The bike trails/course at the KOA were absolutely awesome! Even though we don't have kids to bring along, I couldn't help but wish I could hit those trails myself– what a cool feature they have.

Now, onto the bathrooms– they were impressively spacious and private, and the best part? Always clean. No complaints there. We appreciated the added security with the entrance gate, it gave us a sense of safety during our stay.

And speaking of people, everyone there was super polite and friendly. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to visit again!"

Almost Home

For a state park it is very nice. Lots of campsites and cabins. Pool was down so kids were a little upset but there was other stuff for them to do.

Very Nice KOA

We stayed here over a weekend and the campground was packed because there was a Penn State football game. Once the weekend was over, the park cleared out and it felt like there was more space and it was much quieter. Our site was the only one available for that weekend and it was a premium with a large paved patio with a nice outdoor patio set with table and chairs, a swing, and a sunken fire pit. We loved this deluxe site but they are a lot pricier than the standard ones.

The park is fairly small but has some really nice sites. There are 91 RV sites to choose from as well as tent sites, cabins, and “lodges.” Some are pull-thru and back-in sites ranging from full hookup deluxe, full hookup 50A, full hookup 30A, and water/30A only. The campground is built on a hill and sites are terraced. Some pull-thru sites have a very steep short hill to go up which made for some RV’s scraping bottom. The section in the front of the park is open with spotty trees; whereas, sites in the back of the park are tucked in the woods and are a lot more private. Roads in the back section are narrow and the sites are not very long and suitable for small campers. Some sites are not level at all and others are sloped such that you have to pull all the way forward into your site to get level.

Each site has a picnic table and fire pit. There are about 45 cable channels. Satellite reception at some sites would be difficult as trees would interfere. There is free Wi-Fi at each site which worked well at our site (#32). Amenities include a covered pavilion, off-leash dog park, camp store, swimming pool, playground, basketball/volleyball courts, and fishing pond. We were there during the off-season but apparently there is lots going on in the summer with hayrides, treasure hunts, Sunday morning pancakes, and a splash pad.

This KOA is close to historic sites, Amish markets, Penn State and a couple of state parks. For outdoor adventure, visit and hike Bald Eagle and Black Moshannon State Parks. Black Moshannon has great trails and a wonderful lake to kayak. The creamery on Penn States campus is delicious. Visit Mt Nittany or other wineries which have pretty good wine. Overall, it was a good place to stop and generally we liked the park. The price listed above was for a deluxe full hookup site (which included a paved patio, sunken fire pit, patio furniture, and a swing) and not a standard site.

Quiet, clean easy to access campground

We stopped here for one night as part of a larger trip. My daughter and son-in-law have a class C and we’re easily able to pull through a spot. The spots are close, but we were here the day after July 4th and there were many open spots. We were spaced out well. The pool and splash pad were clean and nice. The Bathrooms were hotel quality and clean. They were combined with a shower. The water pressure was great and very hot. I took a picture of the accessible bathrooms.

It was almost 90 degrees so we didn’t participate in activities. We visited the store. There were toys, T-shirts, novelty ice cream, supplies, drinks, and a slush machine.

There were also sites with a nicer table, patio, and gas grill.

For the price you pay the sites aren’t the best

All the regular pull through sites in the old part are very tight and dusty. We had to move the fire ring so it wouldn’t be under our awning and the only place we could safely have it was with the one side of people would have to sit on the road. The spots were sooooo close together! They had a great amount of activities for the kids and the pool was great! The bathrooms were nice and clean. The sites just could use some space and upkeep in the older part.

Good Experience

Campground was packed 10/16-10/18, we had a 30 amp back-in full hook up site, those sites are very close to one another, well shaded.l though. A lot to do for the kids throughout the weekend, workers did a great job, very polite. We will be returning.

1st Stay at KOA

This was my 1st time camping at a KOA as the nearby state park was full. This KOA impressed me. The grounds were well laid out and included RVs, campers, tents and us in Hammocks. We were in an area for tent camping though. The individual bathroom/showers were great & clean. Office facilities & firewood access were also nice. I usually camp in state parks, but I’ll give KOA consideration again after this stay.

pros and cons

on a x-country trek to deliver my kid to college, so not yr typical koa person. BUT great new bathroom/shower here and a cooking and dishwashing station by the primitive camping area get 5 stars.

we got a postage stamp flat driveway to stay the night - i believe it was site 15. but only $30ish for a koa. fine for our pop-top van, great shower, and a quick stop for the van.

IMPORTANT— almost got killed getting just off the freeway to make the left turn towards the koa — please be careful. traffic either side does not stop or slow, and they are going extremely fast. be patient. wait for ample time.

if i had kids — there’s a stocked pond and a freakin’ bouncy pad!!!

also, note to potato chip connoisseurs, avoid the brand they sell in the kamp store — bleck. misfortune of reading ingredients — “may contain tallow” — eek!!!

Great Campground

First, I'll agree with Gayle that water pressure was 18psi. Aside from that, the campground is clean and the staff is friendly. They had activities that my kids enjoyed. Pool is in good shape, along with a bounce pillow and several playgrounds. I did not like the complete openness of the park, the sites are stepped up a hill so there is really no privacy. The trail up the hill is large gravel and treacherous on a bicycle. Make sure you have leveling tools as the sites are not very level side-to-side. The sites are also small and tightly packed. We also saw a large black snake on the playground near us. The staff did promptly remove though.

Great place to stay!

We lucked out and got a fantastic site on the hill. #75 it was secluded and had a big lawn. Nice pool, splash park, and bouncy pillow. We did the Friday night pizza and wings which worked out great.

Nice campground. Bad water pressure.

I honestly struggled with what to rate this campground. I loved the area. Very peaceful and quite, but close to State College (a must since we were in town for a Penn State game). I also loved historic Bellefonte (I highly recommend eating at the Governors Pub). It had a cute little dog park, nice play ground, bouncy pillow, gem mining, pool, etc.- what you expect to find at a KOA. Once we were in it, I even loved our site once we were in it. It was very secluded, private, quite and woodsy. That being said- getting into the site was almost impossible. We didn't think we'd be able to do it. And as it was, our slide out was about an inch away from a tree on one side and up against a raised concrete pad on the other. For a smaller camper, it was probably perfect, but I really don't think they had any business putting a camper our size in that site. Width wise, the site was large and had some sort of shrub growing in the middle of the entrance which helped with giving it more privacy. Then there was the water pressure… or lack of water pressure. Saying it trickled out would be generous. Though there was a lot about the campground that I liked, I won't go back again just based on the water pressure alone. I've never been that stressed out trying to rinse my hair… It could very well have just been a problem with our site- we were in the very back on the hill. Or it may be a problem everyone was experiencing. I'm not sure which is why I gave it a 4 rating. I liked everything about it but that.
