 Blackberry Campground is perched on a heavily wooded bluff overlooking the Alsea River. The well-maintained campground offers plenty of fishing opportunities, including crawfishing. Swimming in the Alsea River is a popular summer activity.
## Recreation

 The Alsea River is a favorite spot for drift boating, and a boat ramp is located on-site. Anglers cast by boat or from shore for Coho and Chinook salmon and Steelhead trout. Crawfishing is also a popular activity. The shellfish can often be found along the riverbank. The area is known for elk hunting, and the campground makes a great base camp for hunting parties.
## Facilities

 Some sites overlook the river and others are situated beside a large, manicured grassy field. Parking spurs are paved and each site is equipped with a campfire ring and picnic table. No dump station or electric hookups are available. The nearest dump station is in Waldport.

 Blackberry Campground sits among tall cedars and Douglas fir in the Siuslaw National Forest, where blackberry bushes are scattered on the forest floor. The Siuslaw encompasses over 630,000 acres and stretches from the lush forests of the coastal mountains to the Oregon Dunes and beaches of the Pacific Ocean. The Alsea River flows 48.5 miles from the town of Alsea out to the Pacific Coast at Waldport and Alsea Bay.

 Sandy beaches stretch north and south of Waldport, just 20 minutes from the campground. Beautiful Cape Perpetua Scenic Area is another 15 minutes south of Waldport. Mary's Peak is the highest point in Oregon's Coast Range and has been designated a Scenic Botanical Area because of its rich, unique scenery and plants.

The Best Camping Near Waldport, Oregon

Right off highway 34, this small campground is a single loop with a ramp down to the Alsea River. The river is perfect for swimming and wading. There are some trees, but the campsites along the river don't seem to have the best hammocking trees, those seem to be along the center or the highway. Firewood is available on site, and there is a market 20 minutes west on 34\.

Right on the River, Small, Quiet

This is a wonderful place to swim! It is a small campground, but we loved it. Very easy to get to and just a short drive to the coast! 

 Best swim spot 

Average campground. Closely spaced sites, next to a river which is nice but also close to the main road so you can hear traffic. Nice one night passing through stay. $24/night, seemed to be reserved through the weekend. Personally did not have cell service through Verizon

Typically middle of the woods

Blackberry has good river access, with warm water for tubing and swimming, but I couldn't get over the poor condition of the park and the general lack of respect from everyone at the site. The dumpsters were overflowing and smelled of dead fish. No one was practicing social distancing and there were so many kids on bikes and scooters that it felt like an unsupervised summer camp.

Great river access but not very clean

Small loop with camps around along the creek or opposite the creek. Group area at the end with bathrooms in the middle. Many local families come here on main holidays, would avoid during those weekends if possible. 

Simple and sweet

Very clean, small place with both shady and open sites. I dont like tree camping but this offers relief from hot summers. Lovely swim/floating/wading/fishing on the Alsea River and 25 miles from the Oregon Coast. A bit pricey for the sites and really nothing else to do  except the river, but a good stopover.  I probably wouldn't make it a destination place, but  a fisherman may. It was FCFS which was lovely.

Small, clean, fishing campground

We found this at a time when all the other RV sites were booked out a month in advance, we were able to get a nice pull through site for a week, host was great, it was peaceful and clean, access for swimming and fishing, all around good, unless you need a cell signal, then you're s.o.l.

Best secret spot

This was a nice campground on the river. There are no showers and there is no phone service, however, there are pit toilets that were very clean. Each campsite had quite a bit of space and a table and a fire pit. However, it was $36 a night.
