Small, quiet creek

I visited this site on July 3, 2023 while researching campsites between Prospect and Union Gap.  It was closed, a locked gate at the time, although I did see some tents in the back sites, probably from work crews nearby.

This is a very small campground well away from Highway 62.  There are only about 10 sites, but a beautiful creek flowing along the edge.  It is gravel and dirt.  There was one awful looking pit toilet.  No water, other than the creek was available and no dump site.

Good local find

Mills Creek campground is right out of Shady cove/prospect which has a country store with wood, food, and snacks. You can also purchase tags for christmas trees and off roading passes. Prospect is an adorable little town in the middle of the woods. Mills creek falls is a few minutes away and is a good hike for those passing through to go to Crater Lake. Out of all of the small campgrounds off of the highway Mills Creek is my favorite. Unfortunately, it used to cost only $8 and now is $22 a night, a very disgusting vault toilet, no running water, a big dumpster that’s usually knocked over and no camp host. The campgrounds themselves are really pretty and half of them are alongside mills creek, they stock the creek with trout and it’s good fishing! #5 is by far the best campground. Go at your own risk and don’t expect anything fancy.

Nice, quiet site by the creek

We were the only ones using this site in mid October, it was beautiful being immersed in the forest right along the creek. Each spot had a picnic table and fire pit, with a good amount of flat space for a tent or vehicle. Easy to get to on a dirt road, and very close to crater lake if that is your final destination! Only negative was that there was a little trash left behind by previous campers.
