With just four sites along the Lostine River corridor in Wallowa National Forest, Walla Walla Forest Camp fills up fast. Two sites sit close to the river; the remaining sites are set further back and can get swampy, which draws more mosquitoes. The road accessing the campground is worth researching before arrival, as RVs are limited to 18 feet. Amenities include vault toilets and picnic tables, and pets are welcome. Several campgrounds near Wallowa National Forest line the same corridor, including Irondyke Forest Camp roughly a mile to the south. The river runs fast and cold, suitable for wading but not swimming. Pack bug spray and check for ticks, especially in summer.
Description
The Walla Walla Forest Camp is one of several small campgrounds located along the Wild and Scenic Lostine River. Tucked alongside the river in a cool fir and pine tree forest, the campground is popular during the summer for local and regional campers visiting the Lostine Canyon and Eagle Cap Wilderness.
