Temperatures range from 30°F in winter to 80°F in summer, providing varied seasonal experiences. ## Overview

 Lake Harriet Campground sits on the eastern shores of crystal clear Lake Harriet. It is located between the Oak Grove Fork of the Clackamas River, which flows into the lake, and the nearby forest highway. It is a great location for camping, fishing and boating. 
## Recreation

 Boating, canoeing and fishing on Lake Harriet are popular activities. There is a speed limit of 10 mph. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout each year, resulting in easy fly fishing. Anglers can also expect to catch cutthroat and brown trout, which spawn in the nearby river. The campground offers a boat ramp and fishing dock for easy lake access. The nearby Oak Grove Fork of Clackamas River is also popular for fishing. Steelhead, chinook and kokanee salmon can often be caught there. Further down the river, the Clackamas provides class III-IV whitewater rafting. The river provides a perfect habitat for the bald eagle and northern spotted owl, as well as an occasional peregrine falcon. Visitors can also enjoy hiking in the Bull of the Woods Wilderness area, just south of the campground. Several primitive forest roads nearby are useful for mountain biking and the Cascades Scenic Byway, which follows the Clackamas River, runs near the campground.
## Facilities

 The campground offers eight single-family campsites for tent and RV camping. Each site is equipped with tables and campfire rings with grills. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water are provided. A host is available on-site and firewood is available for purchase at the campground.
## Natural Features

 The campground is surrounded by a sparse forest of alder trees that provide limited shade to the area. It is situated at an elevation of about 2,000 feet in the Mt. Hood National Forest. The 22-acre lake and surrounding wilderness rest in a narrow, heavily forested canyon of Oregon's Cascade Mountain Range.

The Best Camping Near Welches, Oregon

Lazy inner tubing, kayaks, canoes, that low-cost inflatable raft you impulsively picked up at Fred Meyer during the last camping sale... any of these can put in at Lake Harriet. It's a buoyed reservoir on the Clackamas.

What the place lacks up in campsite privacy, it makes up for in the abundance of trails that are a trot or short car ride away. Definitely a family campground with composting toilets and a water pump, so expect kiddies and pups to be darting around. The spots are adjacent to the gravel loop, not a lot of grass, very open. Very crowded when we were there but everyone was having a good time so the vibe was still pleasant. Gravel semi single lane road leads in so drive cautiously and don't be a jerk, also don't bother washing your car until after the trip.

We come here with fishing in mind, there are an abundance of shore opportunities on top of what you can access with a floater. Some feeder streams and side shoots offer hiding places for the fish during the heat of the day as well so everyone's got a chance to catch something. I would encourage this to be a "family camping in the big tent" or a fishing destination; not a place you go for quiet reflection and to savor your whiskey among nature.

We spent a week having a blast camping here with our granddaughter. Only downside was water was way to cold to do any swimming or water play, which she wanted to do too! Great for fishing (she had a blast) having fun in our raft and exploring the area.

Amazing camping up and down forest rd 57. Close to lake Harriet and Timothy lake. Campgrounds sit right next to the clackamas river. You get to go to bed with the sound of moving water if that’s your cup of tea!
