The Best Camping Near Joseph, Oregon

This is a small campground with limited amenities, but a nice amount of privacy for each site. The creek lives up to it's name and is very loud. The sites are not especially big, just enough space for two small tents.

Private, shady, and quiet.

This is a very small campground along Hurricane Creek. Private secluded sites, just a few miles from Hurricane Creek Trailhead in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. The creek is very loud, so much so that I wore earplugs at night to sleep

Small, best access to Hurricane Creek Trail

Hurricane Creek Campsite is super nice. Sits right along Hurricane Creek and has a lot of well maintained spots. My one caution would be that if you have dogs keep them on a leash because if they were to get in the creek that would be all she wrote. That creek is appropriately named as it really moves. 

Nice Campsite by River

We scheduled three nights here but after two nights of amazing lightning storms, we skipped the third night.  Still, this is a beautiful place, very private, secluded, and shady. The fast-moving creek creates a soothing white noise that we found calming.  The campsites are spaced quite far apart, some only large enough for a tent. No hookups, but there is a clean vault toilet. We planned to hit the nearby hiking trail, but when we got to the trailhead, the parking lot was completely packed. When we go there again, we will stay and relax at the campground. 

A lovely place 

Before I drove down here, I'd read some reviews about the road not being pot-holed and washboard, but I decided to risk it with my van and so glad I did! I found a level site for my van with neighbors not too close. (Oddly, they were folks I knew from Portland, go figure!)

  

Spent one night in that spot then took another closer to the river for the second night where I had to use my leveling blocks. But so worth it. Could hear nothing but the rushing river. Be bear aware here. Didn't see any bears, but they were around the week before I came.  River is fast. Keep an eye on your dogs!

Quiet on a Loud Creek

tons of beautiful campsites right next to a LOUD rushing creek. plenty of clean bathrooms as well. it seemed to me that this area does get a lot of rain, so just a heads up for that. came in a little Prius &amp; had no issue getting to the perfect campsite. no water hookups, so just remember to bring your own :)

absolutely stunning!!

We car camped in this small campground along Hurricane Creek after getting rained out on a backpacking trip up to Eagle Cap. There are 13 sites, 3 of which are handicap accessible. There are several vault toilets and they were clean and not smelly. Some of the sites are small and close to the road. Sites 12 and 13 at the end of the road have a lot of trees and good tent areas. Nice large picnic tables and fire pits. Only a 5 mile trip into Joseph. Deer wandered through the campground and there are chipmunks. 

Nice creekside camping

Small campground by a beautiful but loud creek. Several sites along the creek, some accessible by car only (no trailer turnaround). Sites private. Only a couple of people there on a Sunday evening. No water. Lovely stay!

Lovely simple campground

Close to town and service but back in far enough you lose the service and all you hear is the river. There are several sites, we came on a Sunday night and most were full besides a few. We took site 9 which was close to the bathroom and right beside the river, it does however have no shade on the site itself so keep that in mind. We were fine since it was a cloudy day. The river is shallow in most places but right off this site it has a deep area where you can dip, the water is freezing even in late August, and there's a 3 foot jump down onto the bank. Saw two bucks together early in the morning grazing.
