Within Umatilla National Forest, Driftwood provides six drive-in sites managed by the US Forest Service near the Camas Creek area. This small campground lacks potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table, with vault toilets available.
Site configurations vary considerably across the campground. Site 1 accommodates multiple RVs or up to four tents, while sites 4 and 5 remain quite small. Site 3 sits closest to the river but presents tight maneuvering for larger RVs, though smaller pull-behind trailers fit well. Gold Dredge sits just over two miles southeast for campers wanting additional amenities.
Description
This lovely campground is situated on the banks of the Wild and Scenic North Fork John Day River. Driftwood features 6 campsties and 1 accessible toilet. There is a put-in site for rafting. There is no potable water or garbage service, so please pack your garbage home. Attractions in this area include swimming, non-motorized boating, and fishing. Water levels are low in mid to late summer, which can impede use of boats. The campground provides good access for big game hunting. In addition, the Oriental Trailhead is about 8 miles west, providing access to both OHV and wilderness trails.

Directions
From Ukiah, travel west 1 mile to the Hwy 395 junction. Turn left (south) on Hwy 395 and go about 15 miles, and then turn left (east) onto Forest Service Road 55. Drive 5.2 miles east along the North Fork John Day River to Driftwood campground.
