Best Glamping near Wallowa-Whitman National Forest

Located in the beautiful Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, Anthony Lake Campground is not to be missed. The scenery is breathtaking and there is something for everyone to do. Kids will enjoy the lake and easy day hikes. I love the fishing and photo opps!!!

On our way to Portland from SLC we decided to book a Yurt on AirBnb at Grande Hot Springs Resort. We arrived the evening of 14 April after a long day of driving from Burley. Checking in was a snap. The Yurt was clean and fresh with a private courtyard and soaking tub backing up to a pond looking up a hillside. Being early spring it was cold enough at night to keep the mosquitos at bay. From our Yurt we walked around the hot lake to the Historic Hot Lake Hotel. The glow of the setting sun against the hotel facade is best described as a scene from "The Shining." Creepy in a stepping back in time kind of way. I'm attracted to those old west neo-classical buildings that have survived and being revived. Back to the Yurt, the only downside was having to take a hike to use the toilet.

Stayed in one of their yurts. Super clean and quiet. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Private soaking tubes were fantastic.

Mainly for rv's but they do have yurts available and nice tents spots. Very clean bathroom and shower, nice place all around. The tent sites are away from the rv's so the view is spectacular.

We stayed here for 2 nights in early August. Great campground that you can tell a lot of love is being put into. The tent and yurt sites are beautifully situated next to a stream full of cattails and lily pads. Wild deer roam nearby and horses graze in the fields around the park. Not far from town either. A great spot if you are in the area.

This place is amazing. Clean, convenient, and right on a productive stretch of the Minam River. Near the confluence of the Minam and Wallowa rivers, this is a perfect base camp for exploring the waters and towns of the Wallowa mountains. An outfitter/camp store sits a half mile upriver, and the towns of Lostine, Wallowa, Enterprise, Joseph, and Elgin are nearby. For $6 (!) you get a great spot literally just a few dozen feet from the water. Fan-freaking-tastic! Oregon parks are the best.

Visiting in April on a Sunday to do day use has defined my idea of heavenly. The snow-covered peaks, the clean air, the sounds of the spring birds, and the silence are magical. The hot tubs are small, but it really doesn't matter if no one is there. They are pool noodle friendly when it's not high occupancy. The Verizon signal is strong. Day use is open until 5:00 p.m. and next door there's a lodge that has even more hot springs that I'm going to have to visit sometime. The setting is pretty incredible with views all around of lovely Eastern Oregon mountains and valley. Spring green is abundant and it is an enchanting time. Very cute tent campsites, as well as a variety of lodging. This place is wonderful.

**Ranger Review: Midland Radios at Anthony Lakes Campground Review: **

This is my favorite place in Oregon. It’s vast and quaint- everything that you would imagine from a 7,000 elevation retreat! We arrived a couple of days prior to when the site was officially supposed to open (July 1- depending on snow) so, we ended up staying in the Anthony Lakes Ski Area parking lot. A combination of snow and mud prevented anyone from using the official campsites but that didn’t stop a handful of people from camping and fishing nearby. During our three-day stay, we had snow, rain, and sunshine. It was wonderful! 

Top reasons I love this campground: 

• The Wallowa-Whitman stunning views; including Gunsight Mountian and the Elkhorn Range. 
• Clean, clear lakes (Lilypad Lake is great for flyfishing) 
• Secluded Amazing hiking

Product Review: As a Ranger for The Dyrt, occasionally I get to test products. At this campground, I tested the Midland Radios X-Talker Extreme Dual Pack T77VP5. Being in a vast wooded area, I was thrilled to have radios that worked well and could be easily charged with a USB cord and a power block. Lightweight and easy to attach to a backpack or belt. 

**Pros: **

• Good value(price for product); two radios, soft-shell carrying case, earpieces, charging station, USB car charger, USB wall plug-in charger, rapid rechargeable batteries, 36-channels. 
• Range of up to 38 miles! 
• Sounds great and keeps a charge.
• Cons: The charging station is plastic and feels inexpensive Overall, I give the Midland Radio X-Talker Extreme Dual Pack T77VP5 five stars. It delivers exactly what it says it does. It’s a great value and a product worth having to keep you in communication with others during your outdoor adventures!

This is a small campground with limited amenities, but a nice amount of privacy for each site. The creek lives up to it's name and is very loud. The sites are not especially big, just enough space for two small tents.

Hurricane Creek Campsite is super nice. Sits right along Hurricane Creek and has a lot of well maintained spots. My one caution would be that if you have dogs keep them on a leash because if they were to get in the creek that would be all she wrote. That creek is appropriately named as it really moves.

We scheduled three nights here but after two nights of amazing lightning storms, we skipped the third night. Still, this is a beautiful place, very private, secluded, and shady. The fast-moving creek creates a soothing white noise that we found calming. The campsites are spaced quite far apart, some only large enough for a tent. No hookups, but there is a clean vault toilet. We planned to hit the nearby hiking trail, but when we got to the trailhead, the parking lot was completely packed. When we go there again, we will stay and relax at the campground.

Before I drove down here, I'd read some reviews about the road not being pot-holed and washboard, but I decided to risk it with my van and so glad I did! I found a level site for my van with neighbors not too close. (Oddly, they were folks I knew from Portland, go figure!)

Spent one night in that spot then took another closer to the river for the second night where I had to use my leveling blocks. But so worth it. Could hear nothing but the rushing river. Be bear aware here. Didn't see any bears, but they were around the week before I came.  River is fast. Keep an eye on your dogs!

tons of beautiful campsites right next to a LOUD rushing creek. plenty of clean bathrooms as well. it seemed to me that this area does get a lot of rain, so just a heads up for that. came in a little Prius & had no issue getting to the perfect campsite. no water hookups, so just remember to bring your own :)

We car camped in this small campground along Hurricane Creek after getting rained out on a backpacking trip up to Eagle Cap. There are 13 sites, 3 of which are handicap accessible. There are several vault toilets and they were clean and not smelly. Some of the sites are small and close to the road. Sites 12 and 13 at the end of the road have a lot of trees and good tent areas. Nice large picnic tables and fire pits. Only a 5 mile trip into Joseph. Deer wandered through the campground and there are chipmunks.

They have an amazing brand new reception, very nice people. These are the cleanest restrooms I’ve ever seen, and we camp a lot! Wifi is okay. Only giving 4 stars because they could add some kids recreation. Other than that, 10/10. Pets cannot be off leash. The pool is mor of a big hot tub, not for actual swimming

Pretty place to camp. Tent sites were relatively close together, but all along a small river that you can fish. Great stop.

Excellent service, nice and quiet surroundings. From time to time a train but other than that nothing else.

I was here April ‘22 and the facilities are immaculate! Shelly does a great job! The owners are wonderful and very smart! The grounds are very well kept. I wish I could be there in the summer. The winds of the valley are ferocious any other time of the year. It rocked my trailer like a stagecoach! The area was beautiful and fun to explore.
