Lakeside campground at Cherokee

Grand Lake State Park operates Lakeside Campground at Cherokee, a small facility positioned directly off the road near the dam. The campground contains approximately a dozen sites with electric and water hookups, plus around thirty tent camping spots spread across the property. A centralized bathroom building provides shower facilities, while a large picnic table area occupies the center of the grounds.

Campers access Grand Lake for fishing and swimming, with the beach located adjacent to the dam structure. The campground accommodates both RVs requiring hookups and tent campers, though the roadside location means traffic noise may be noticeable. Reservations help secure preferred sites during busy periods, and the facility welcomes pets throughout the grounds.
