Jamestown ND Dam

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Dispersed camping along the Jamestown Dam provides an undeveloped option for RV and tent campers willing to forgo hookups. The area sits on Corps of Engineers land where campers can set up along the shoreline of the James River reservoir. Sites lack designated boundaries, so spacing depends on current occupancy and camper courtesy.

Access requires navigating gravel roads that can become challenging during wet conditions. The Parkhurst Campground lies just over a mile northwest for those needing developed facilities. Campers should bring all supplies since no amenities exist on-site.

There was a road down to the lake but it was raining and the road look muddy so I parked at the trailhead. There are two trail heads. One has a picnic table. The office has a restroom and the entrance was not locked at night. Very quiet. It’s a few miles off the freeway and you have to want to get there. I liked it.
