One of our favorites!
We had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend at Davidson River Campground. We were #38 on the Appletree loop. I got the last available site when I booked it a few months out and assumed that it would not be the best on in campground and/or loop. Someone must have canceled because it was a great spot. We weren't on the river, but there was plenty of privacy and room. I liked our loop, some of the others (especially on the other side of the main road) were much closer together without as much vegetation between spots. After riding bikes through the entire campground, I'd say Laurel loop is the best.
We braced for a packed holiday campground but the weather kept it slower than I think it would have been otherwise. There was no issue with noise from kids or rowdy adults. The temperature dropped significantly the day we came (and rose the day we left), so the kids did not do much swimming. But there is a nice swimming hole where we waded in the water. A lot of people were fishing. The exercise loop by the river was nice for short hikes and the art loeb trailhead was nice for longer ones. The kids rode their bikes a good bit, too.
The location can't be beat. It is so close to hiking, biking, tubing, rafting, and fishing. Sliding Rock is right down the road. Brevard is a quick drive if forget anything or want to explore the town or breweries.
We have Version and could typically send a text message or two, but not much internet searching.
