Linville Gorge Wilderness Dispersed — Pisgah NF

Description

The ridge-line road on the western edge of Linville Gorge Wilderness in Pisgah National Forest hosts this dispersed site, offering a direct east-facing overlook toward Table Rock and the gorge — prime territory for a sunrise from camp. The roughly 7-mile dirt road in from the south (via NC-105) is unmaintained, with ruts and rocks that call for high clearance; approach from the north is significantly rougher and best avoided. The site accommodates a few tents and a vehicle or two, has a rock fire ring along the cliff edge, and sits among trees suited to hammock camping — with the Table Rock Summit Trail and other Linville Gorge routes within a short distance.
